Idea for a DIS lanyard ID

I came up with a "Do It Yourself" idea for a "DIS lanyard ID" to help identify members of the DIS while at WDW. I passed the idea along to Pete and have received his permission to post it. The ID fits in the plastic "pocket" of the lanyard I received at EPCOT for a CP package a few years back.
Here is a link to a photo of the DIS ID: DIS Lanyard ID
The ID was created on a piece of glossy photo paper using MicroSoft Word2000. I used a rectangular "autoshape", 3 1/2" x 4", which I outlined in black. I then created Mickey's head using 3 oval "autoshapes". These, I "filled" with lime green. I then added "The DIS" and my name in lime green using text boxes. I added my DIS screen name (MiJo) to Mickey's head in black using another text box. The text boxes are "no fill". To finish it off, I "filled" the original 3 1/2" x 4" rectangle using 2 colors, yellow and white, in a horizontal "shading style".
It is not as difficult as it may sound but it does take a little manipulation and knowledge of Word. If you're bored and enjoy playing around with Word, have fun designing your own ID!

That's pretty nifty!

I am completely worthless at technical stuff, and my dear friend who could figure it out is away until after my trip!

Maybe I can draw a Mickey head with a lime green marker... :earboy2:

I like it and would love to have one! I always wear my lanyard and maybe I'd meet some DISers that way!

That's a great idea. I'm always kind of nervous approaching people wearing lime green. It would be great to just peek at their lanyard and know for sure.

I'll have to try to make one of these. Great idea.

The ones I made for our honeymoon looked like this:

Basically the same as yours, I just used the Mickey paint chips from Home Depot. I love the idea! :)

Great idea! Where can I get the clear pocket? :D

Most office supply stores sell them.

Disney also sells a nifty "fastpass/admission holder". I used that for mine, cause it came with a neat clip and an extenable thread. :)

We bought our badge holders at Office Max in the "label" aisle. There is a clear plastic widow in the front, and a little zipper compartment on the back. Perfect for our Park Hoppers, room keys, Fast Passes, and a few Disney Dollars. There is a sliding plactic toggle thing so you can adjust the length of the strap. They were about $4 each.

I can't wait to use them! We are SO close! :cool1:

Katholyn,

68 pounds!!!!! Wow, I am impressed and awestruck. Way to go! :cheer2:
