My son wrote this poem for my birthday and I'd like to share it with all of you:
My Life, Because of Your Support
It all started when I was a kid,
Of whom Jeremy and Jenny wanted to get rid.
I supposedly had these crazy curly cues,
Thank God I didn't have to appear like that on the news.
I enjoyed playing all of the video games
Of which you could not keep track of the names.
I always thought it was "I am da power"
Maybe because I always ate so much flour.
I remember saying to you "mommy it's happy!"
I think I got that part of my personality from Aunt Jackie.
We all remember the head and shoulders song,
Of which I sang for so damn long.
There were some pageants that I won,
Because I got crazy and dressed up like a nun.
Next was acting that I started to try,
Because I am, as you say, a cute little guy.
High School was a very rough ride,
Through which I gained my mother's pride.
But I graduated and made it out of there,
Which I was able to do because of my mother's care.
We had a blast on our trips to Dawson's Creek
Man, was I quite the geek.
It wouldn't have happened without you,
A memory to add to the category of new.
Then there was North Carolina I ventured to,
A state filled with acting for the dream to come true.
Jobs have come and jobs go,
Some of which I had to put on a show.
Without your support I would not be here,
Though it is hard to know you are not near.
I thank you from deep down in my heart,
Whoops I think I let out a fart.
The love you provide is oh so strong,
That I will do my best never to do you wrong.
Happy 50th birthday to the best mother alive,
I think your theme song should be "I will survive".
This was one special gift - from the heart - which I always tried to teach my kids when they were young but was never sure if they got it - I think my son got it! Just thought I would like to show some other moms who might wonder what the future can hold - life does have its rewards!
