Heyooo.

I'm a long time lurker here but finally want to post. I would EVENTUALLY love to take my first timer bud down to WDW (perhaps in the next year or so). I havent been down since the 90s, so a ton of new stuff to check out!

That being said. I am a transman. I pass as male.

However i never switched over my driver license gender. So i always disclaim that i didnt steal someone's ID that it's mine xp. Jokes aside the current climate in the world makes it high nigh impossible to get an ID with the "visible" gender.

Will this caveat give me massive issues getting a hotel or proving my identity on property? I don't drink so alcohol won't be an issue.

Just a cautious curious person!

Personally, I've never been asked to provide an ID when checking into a Disney hotel (I have at other chains). And, you can do online check in, so you never even have to go to the front desk in person! Other than alcohol or using an AP/DVC discount, I can't think of any other time I was asked for an ID. Do online check in and all should be fine! If you want to add a different credit card to your reservation, do it after checking in online.

I was just required to provide my ID at Pop for an in-person check despite doing online check-in. Only time it’s happened but it is possible.

That said I agree with PPs that this isn’t remotely something a CM is going to want to question.

The only time I've needed ID was when I walked out of my room with nothing but my wallet. No phone, no Magic Band, and had to get a key card to get back in. If you do online check-in, and have a CC on file in the app, you probably won't need ID, The exception may be if you try to use a discount, like AP Discount or DVC Discount on a meal. I've occasionally, but not always, have had a CM ask for an ID for the discount in addition to my AP or DVC Documents in the app, or to get the free AP Holder magnets.

If the location allows the mobile check-out through the app (the larger stores on property do) and your docs are linked in your phone, the discounts should be applied automatically with no need for the ID.

I hope you have a wonderful trip.

My name on MDE is not the same first name as listed on my ID.
Never have had an issue checking in at a Disney resort.
Enjoy your trip!

You shouldn't have any issues with your ID - even the few times it's asked for, they're mainly wanting to identify that you are the person holding a pass, or matching the reservation - it's the name they are looking at - if your name on your ID isn't the one you currently go by, Disney employees are well trained with LGBT sensitivity, marriage name changes, trans-identities, etc. and I wouldn't imagine them questioning your explanation.

While I'm not LGBT, my license photo doesn't look anything like me - I was 200lbs heavier, clean-shaven, with mostly blond hair...currently I'm much thinner, have a full goatee and dark brown hair starting to go grey...I've had customs entries study the ID and me, trying to decide if it's real. At Disney, where I go 4-5 trips a year, I have never had even a moment's pause when using the ID at checkin, for pass renewals, DVC lounge access, etc.
