ID checking on buses?

We've almost always stayed on propery. This trip w/baby # 2 on the way, we're trying to save a little and staying offsite at RRP. My question is do they check your resort ID to ride the buses? We're not planning on using them often at all. We're actually renting a car like we usually do even when we stay on property. The reason I ask is my two yo DS recently has a "thing" for buses. Every morning when I'm dropping him off he sees all the school buses on the way and wants to know why he can't go on them. I was hoping just to be able to hop a short ride even once for him. Believe it or not, it will probably be a hilight of the trip for him. Like I said I never used them too often in the past, but anytime I have, I've NEVER been asked for ID. Not sure if this has changed recently with all the increased security. Maybe if I'm just honest with a driver, I can get one trip?!

Your park-hopper pass entitles you to the use of WDW transportation... maybe he'd enjoy using the bus to hop from one park to another?

Thanks so much. I didn't realize that. I've always thought the transportation "rights" was from staying on property! Now all I have to do talk my DH into a ride or two. He's the main reason we usually rent a car. Doesn't like waiting around for buses. Likes to be able to come and go when he wants. I'm sure he will do it for our son. Thanks, again.

My Dh is the same way -- maybe he can go ahead with the car while you and your son ride the bus and you can meet at a designated place at the next park -- see who gets there first
