why she needs ice coffee (go RI!), where do you live Frayedend? I am glad to see other people on the DIS boards understand that the real important questions don't neccesarily involve the
DDP!!
We leave Saturday for a trip from RI to the midwest and have found 3 years running, that Dunkin Donuts in Penn. is the last stop for an ice coffee, at least on our route! I was so happy to find a Tim Horton's in Ohio years ago, then nearly choked on the frappa/latte/iced/sugar/grande they gave us! Starbucks in the bottle doesn't cut it either.
From Wikipedia--
Rhode Islanders have a particular fascination with coffee. There are coffee shops on almost every corner. According to a Providence Journal article, Providence features the highest number of coffee/donut shops per capita in the country. It is common belief that more coffee ice cream is sold here per-capita than any other state. The Official State Drink of Rhode Island is coffee milk, a beverage created by mixing milk with coffee syrup. This unique syrup was invented in the state and is bottled and sold in most Rhode Island supermarkets.
No wonder I feel so much more realxed when we hit the midwest... Another quote from columnist Mark Patinkin--
A New York marketing firm called the NPD Group found that Providence has more doughnut shops per capita than anywhere else--one shop per 4700 people. Boston ranks second with one doughnut store for every 5,750 people.
My town of around 6,000 people has
literally 4 Coffee Shops--2 Tim Hortons and 2 Dunkin Donuts
in the town limits. One is brand new and another DD is in the works. I kid you not.
Thanks for the good suggestions as to locations. I also agree with frozone about bringing instant to make your own. I do that at home when desperate. Lots of cream helps.
Now, about the fluffanutter thing. My 6 year old is a walking ad for Fluff--goalie5hole--I'd be surprised if you
weren't from RI or Mass with that "accent"-- isn't it funny the things we crave, even with all the
good food to get when we travel?
Last question--frayedend-- where'd you get the username? Each time I see it it reminds me of a joke about this rope who goes into a bar...seriously.
Good luck on the iced coffee quest all!
