I have read very little about this wine and it sounds like something I would like to try, is it sweet and a dessert wine? Any info would be great. Thanks Linda

Ice wine is very sweet! They actually give volunteers beepers that go off at the first frost and the volunteers show up to pick the grapes. I live near several wineries that make it and there is even an "ice wine" festival not far away.
It is too sweet for my taste and I like sweeter wines! The wineries near me are over the border in Canada near Niagara Falls - I believe Canada in EPCOT has wines from at least of one of the Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries.

Not only is Ice Wine incrediblly sweet it is also extremely potent. So its a lot easier to over do than standard wine. And if I remember correctly, it is served in a much smaller quantity.

It's sickeningly sweet, unless you like REALLY sweet wines. Almost like a Meade.

At one point Le Cellier was serving Innskillen, I don't know if they still do.

Ice wine is wonderful! We tried it at the F&W festival last year and bought 2 bottles! We enjoy it from time to time at our house. It seems to me that it explodes on your tongue, and it sure does make me smile! But I'm a sweet wine person, if you're into dry, this isn't it.

Ice Wine is pricey, but wonderful. I am thinking of buying myself a bottle for under the Christmas tree.

Artist Point serves ice wine as well. It is too sweet for me but I don't care for sweet wines.

at leCellier the 1st week in Dec
They did have Inniskillen (spelling X?). they offered two types of ice wine by the glass. One was $7-$9 per glass the other $14-$15 per glass
I tried the more expensive option. It is very sweet & fruity, a true dessert in & of itself! It has a thicker, yet not syrupy, consistency, than other wines. Thought there were enough 'layers' of taste to make it interesting. Not our (& we all sampled!)--style, but am glad we tried it.
do sample it for yourself, it may become your new favorite, it is highly thought of & sought after by many wine afficiandoes.
IMHO it might be lovely at the finish of a meal in place of dessert.
by the way our meal at Le Cellier was terrific!

ice Wine is nice, only wine I have tasted that I ever liked(and tasted it at epcot in october). mmmmmm. but expensive.. :goodvibes

We bought 2 bottles of Inniskillin Ice Wine during the Food & Wine Festival, and the prices were quite fair; $50 per bottle. This was for the 2003 Vidal, but not Oak Aged. We got a bottle of the 1998 Inniskillin Ice Wine, Vidal, Oak Aged on the Disney Magic cruise ship last year for $72 and that was a very reasonable price as well.

They definitely still serve it at Le Cellier.

This is not a wine that you drink with a meal, but it is absolutely delicious before and/or after dessert, and especially with cheese and crackers :goodvibes

We like to take Ice Wine with us on our cruises. Celebrity doesn't offer it. We have a small glass with dessert. It's wonderful this way. We had Canadian tablemates on our last cruise. They had tried it & didn't like it, but they didn't realize it was meant to be enjoyed with dessert. It's not a dinner wine, but a dessert wine. Enjoy! :goodvibes

This is exactly what we're doing with the second bottle we bought, it'll be accompanying us on our Disney cruise next summer :sunny: Hmm...that's if it lasts here that long. :earboy2: The first bottle is gone already, we shared with with family last month. It was the first time that most of them had had ice wine and they really liked it. :)

What I'm looking for is Ice Wine candy. I've heard it mentioned before and was wondering where to get it.

You should be able to find it at most places that sell wines.

If you are looking for a great icewine that is very reasonably priced, I would suggest that you try Rockbridge Vineyards V d' Or. IT is my favorite ice wine and only about $20 a bottle The Vineyard may even have a recipe for icewine candy

Do you know of any place outside of VA that this can be purchased? I would love to find a good, cheaper alternative to Inniskillen. I just bought my DH 3 bottles for Christmas & it was more than $175. :earseek: That wouldn't be so bad, if you could get more than 4 glasses out of it.

I order mine from their website when i cant find it here locally. the site is rockbridgevineyards.com They also have a toll free # 1-888- 511-WINE. I am sure they could tell you how to get it
