I just heard the first ice cream truck of the season!! :jumping1:

We don't buy from it much anymore, but loved it when DS was little.

Do you have ice cream trucks that come by where you live?

I haven't seen an ice cream truck come by the entire time that I lived in my current home (moved here about 5-6 years ago).

The Ice Cream truck music is occasionally heard in the Neighborhood of Celebration … If only I could run down from 3rd floor quicker but the sound of the music truck brings back memories from childhood simple joy !

We had ice cream trucks going by our house when I was a kid growing up in the 60’s and 70’s. All the neighborhood kids would run off home for change as soon as we heard it coming. Unfortunately for the past 40+ years I no longer live where they have ice cream trucks go by. 🙁

We have one that specializes in ice sandwiches. They have different types of cookies and different flavored ice creams each week. It's very popular around here.

We have one that comes through very occasionally, but I don’t really care one way or the other. We didn’t have one in the neighborhood when I was a child, so I don’t have any nostalgia attached to it.

We have some that come by. When I was a kid they mostly just had a rigning bell - "ding, ding ding!" Now they play music. A few years ago there was one that played the strangest tune. We joked that it sounded like an 18th century Vienese funeral dirge! It was peculiar that's for sure.

We had one go through our small town when the boys were young but haven't seen it in years. Very special memories when it would come by, tho.

Haven't seen or heard one in years.
I don't care if they come or not.

We have one that comes down our street. I really wanted to go out the other week and get one but since I don't have little kids, I kinda felt dumb going out. I then found out that it's not the ice cream truck that I remembered, now they just sell the ice cream bars and sandwiches, no soft serve, sundaes or milk shakes.

Sometimes. Live on a cul de sac, so they don't always make it here. I'm really ambivalent. Sketchy dudes got to make a living too.

I actually saw an ice cream truck on my street last week. First one I have seen in at least a decade. Just not as popular here as other parts of the country. Probably because it routinely gets to 100 or more in the summer, so people have their freezers stocked with frozen treats so they don't need to buy them off a truck.

I voted Other because "I Don't Know" wasn't a choice. I've never seen one but then again I am away from the house every weekday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. It's also sad but true that there are very, very few young families with kids in our direct vicinity; the parks and school playgrounds are deserted during the summer.

Yes we still have them; they drive through my neighborhood on summer evenings, several times a week. They also park at places where people congregate, like the picnic area of the local park, outside the community public pool and at Little League and soccer fields during games.

Yep I remember those bells when I was growing up too. We had the Good Humor man, who rang the bells by hand while he was driving. He wore a clean white uniform with hat, and had to get out of the truck to open up the freezer in the back. Nowadays, it’s electronic music that’s kind of annoying.

I see them mostly at parks, the municipal pool, ball fields and near schools. Places where groups of children are most likely to be found.

At other houses I owned they regularly came around the neighborhood. Several different trucks actually.

When I was young there were two summers one came by a few days a week at the same time (he told us the schedule). It was driven by a teacher from another town trying to make some money over the summer. And to drum up business he had a contest where he would sing a song and the first to correctly identify it received a free whammy stick (basically a Good Humor freeze pop on a stick that cost a nickel back then).

We have a couple that randomly come around year round.

I voted other. Because I don't care one way or the other. I have never bought anything from it and don't see me doing so in the future but I have no ill feelings about it either.

What I want to know is why they all play this:
