I just read about this on mousewsavers.com. Has anyone ever tried this?? I was wondering what kind of ice cream they have, My DS is very picky.. he only like ice cream on whipped cream. No sauces(hot fudge, butterscocth, ect) I think this sounds like alot of fun!!

Thanks for the help

Well I have never gotten the child's ice cream so I don't know what they serve for children. Adults get a waffle cone "glued" to a chocolate chip cookie "glued" to the plate using chocolate sauce. Then it's vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and maybe gummy worms onit? It's good - not necessarily worth the $6.95 (i think that's right) that is charged but the experience and character interaction are worth it - it's cheap compared to the other character meals and a yummy afternoon break.

We did the ice cream social at the Garden Grille in Epcot during our June vacation at Disney. We really liked it. None of us were real ice cream buffs though and I can tell you it's standard ice cream sundae fare. Nothing real special. We all finished ours though. What is special though is the character interaction with the kids and grown-ups as well. If your budget is limited this event beats the heck out of some the very expensive character breakfasts, lunches and dinners. For $6.95 each we received a decent (not outstanding) sundae and plenty of character interaction from Chip, Pluto and Mickey. If you buy soft drinks along with the sundae they run around $2 bucks each. The Disney characters made rounds to each table and they visited our table at least 3 times. They signed autograph books and posed for pics with the youngsters and adults as well on each visit. At the end of the event the character representative came by and made sure the characters had spent enough time with us and indeed they had. As you mentioned the place rotates so the scenery also changes. All in all I thought it was well worth the price and we intend to do it again during our November visit. Be sure you use priority seating to reserve your table for the event.

We went to the ice cream social in June also, and it was great, the kids get vanilla ice cream on a cookie (chocolate chip) and a cone on top - it looked like a clown wearing a hat. It was well worth the $6.95 - what other character (breakfast, lunch or dinner costs so little) Mickey, Chip & Dale and Pluto were around wearing farm gear. You might want to try the "rehitching ceremony" where you and your significant other get "remarried" it was a hoot and at the end of the ceremony you get a nice size cake!! Pretty cool! Enjoy!!!

Gee - this sounds like fun!!! Do they have it in December? And is it a daily thing?

If so, what time - where would I call to make the PS - and exactly what do I say I'm making a PS for?

Thanks all!! So many neat things I hadn't heard about before.. ;)

Yes it is a daily thing. You call 407-wdw-dine for the priority seating up to 90 days out. Tell them you want the ice cream social at the Garden Grill at Epcot. I've posted some more info below. Enjoy!

An Ice-Cream Social with Mickey & the Gang!: Every day at 3, 3:10, & 3:20 p.m. you can enjoy a genuine ice-cream social with Mickey and his friends for only $6.99 plus tax and gratuity! Wow! I never knew they did this at the Garden Grill. We eat dinner there every time we go. This would certainly be cheaper. Thanks for the info.

Sugar Free Ice Cream available upon order. And it is GOOD!!!!

I have a question - I'm going to WDW at the busiest time of year, and if I book this ice cream social, does that mean that I can definately get into the park, even if the park is 'closed' due to overcrowding?

Thanks much - it's my first time, and I'm full of questions!

Sure they have chocolate since my 5 yo grandson was covered in it by the time we left. We had a great time and took so many pictures with the characters. It is the best buy by far in the whole of WDW. 3 thumbs up for the Ice cream Social!

Thanks for posting the pictures. We've been planning on doing this in January. I think it will be great. I'm not doing it for the ice cream, but for the character interaction. It's good to know that we'll like the ice cream, though.

A great thread. I've been considering this for our jan. trip. Now I'll definitely do it. thanks for the info.

No. A PS doesn't guarantee park entry. If the park is full you will not get in.
