When you ask for water from the restaurants, is the water they give you regular old Florida tap water? Or is it filtered?

What about water in the fill your own drink machines?

What about the ice? Whenever I travel, I NEVER ask for ice because in the past, when the ice would melt, it would make my drink taste terrible.

It varied based on the restaurant. I can't stand the swampy taste of Florida water, and I'm a big water drinker. Some restaurants the water tasted nice and clean and I drank lots of it. Other places it tasted terrible. It didn't seem to matter how nice the place was, Cali Grill and Citricos had the bad water, Flying Fish and a lot of non-sigs had good water.

Part of this could be how new/old the filters are.

More often then not, I avoid the water. It tastes terrible. Or, swampy as Psac mentioned :P

I've asked for ice water at several CS restaurants at WDW, and it tasted fine at each one. (I used to live in Florida, and don't like the taste of the tap/water fountain water.)

Remember, if there's a long line at a CS restaurant, you can go to the place where you pick up your food and avoid the lines.

Filtered tap water

Nope. Some TS restaurants filter, and some do not. We can`t drink the water, but have eaten at pretty much every restaurant, including Signatures, so we ask each and everytime.

It is not a rule or policy at WDW that all TS restaurants filter at all.

Its not swampy. Its just that its the same water that they use for SM and POTC. Its part of the going green effort. :lmao:

It does honestly taste terrible...how do Floridians tolerate this (does everyone filter??)

Taking a shower is torture because of that nasty water smell!

we filter our drinking water at the kitchen sink in our Florida condo - just the regular Pur faucet filter works wonders (so I guess the pitcher version would work too)

As for the shower/bath, I guess my bath gel and shampoo is scented enough I don't really notice the smell there?

The fountain sodas have to be mixed with filtered water. So, if they serve water from the soda fountain, it will be filtered water. So, all the restaurants have filtered water available. Doesn't mean they always use it.

In the state of Florida, if you serve water it must be filtered. It is a health regulation.

Now, I will agree that the taste of your water will depend on how old the filter is. There is a time limit on them and they are to be changed regularly (also law).

Restaurant manager, Florida resident, and food safety certified.

FWIW the water that most of Florida munincipalities uses is the same one that provides the water for all the billions of of gallons of bottled water you pay a dollar a gallon for or more. The delivery piping may be suspect but the water is generally pretty good just full of minerals. Some water is also provided by by de-salinization plants which is also pretty pure.

This is interesting as we have been told by restaurant managers at WDW, that they do not filter their water, at whatever particular TS restaurant we happened to be dining at.

Not sure of the discrepancy? Hubby has received many non-filtered glasses of water at many TS restaurants on property (he can handle it, but we cannot).

But that water is heavily filtered most likely Reverse Osmosis and Carbon, it says so on the label.

No way the the water that comes out of bottles tastes anything like the "water" ,I use that term loosely :), that comes straight out of the taps.

I posted this before and I'll post it again. Anyone who thinks the water in FL tastes fine is obviously an Alien. :)

We might be aliens then because we drink fountain water and don't mind it at all. However, the water here isn't great either so we might just be used to it.

The Disney area water tastes and smells awful. It is not like that in all of Florida. I am also food manager/safety certified. I got an extremely high score and I do not recall any requirement about filtering water. If unfiltered water was unsafe to drink what would that mean to those of us who drink it in our homes?

Also my Palm Beach County restaurant did not have water filters. Of course, I think it would be a horrible business decision to serve the Disney water to restaurant customers if I wanted them to come back.
