Making my yearly run to go fishing in central FL in two weeks and have decided to go intersate 81 for the first time from NJ. Wondering if there is anything worth mentioning by taking this route? Always looking for good roadside eats and or gift shop type places worth pulling over on any part of the way down. After the winter we've had I've never looked so forward to making to 19 hour drive down.

Once you got into Virginia, where would you go? Down I-77? Down I-95 (though that would be out of your way).

We like the route!:goodvibes I'd rather have trucks and beautiful scenery than really crazy drivers in cars and trucks!
We take 78 to 81 to 77 to 26 to 95! Very easy!;)

This is the route we have mapped out. We are debating it being we are leaving Sunday night to go down and Sat night to come back. I don't think traffic and such will be an issue.

Many visitors, posting on the 2,000 mile thread, take the I-78 to I-81 to I-77 to I-26 to I-95 route. You could try it going south and, if it doesn't work for you, just revert to the I-95 dash back, couldn't you?
