Just wondering if there is any construction or detours we need to be aware of on our way down. Just want to be prepared. We're leaving Friday. Hoping to get to Forsthye, GA by Friday night then on to Disney on Saturday!
Thanks

Howdy Neighbor! We live in Monroe and have driven to WDW about one half of the times that we've gone. If you haven't gotten it yet,buy Dave Hunter Along I-75. It is great reading and my kids were entertained by stories and facts. I am not aware of any construction or detours this time of year, but watch out for the snow. It seems to be heaviest to the south. We have about 3 inches right now. Good luck and have fun!!!!

Ah yes, the I-75 migration south for FLA. I know it well, but not for many years now. (I swear by flying.) As our family grows we might have to go back to driving. (at least we have the comfy mini van with DVD player.

Count the cracker barrels and waffel houses on the way.

Get out of the car and bow to the 1st plam tree you see.

(our traditions, we are crazy bunch.)

Have a safe drive and I am hoping for good weather (the drive and once you get there.)

Wo ho, 2 weeks from Friday, but we leave our house around 4:30 am to go the airport and arive at the hotel around 12:00 (after stopping at the store.)

My in-laws just did the drive down earlier this week and they did not mention any construction. Have a safe drive and have fun with Mickey

Just did the drive from Chicago Jan 31. I guess Nashville is where we would meet up (24/65). Road is ok through Nashville, but some minor work just south of there. North Ga. ok (go through Atlanta, not 285 bypass). You should still be ok till south of Macon. From there you have about 100 miles where the speed limit drops to 60. Barrels for construction all along 75 from there to the border. Cops all over. Some places where the lanes are at two levels. They seem to be doing this for the last few years. Trying to make the road taller and taller by adding asphalt. Watch out for lane changes. In Fla. clear till the turnpike. Construction all over the PAY-WAY near Disney. I missed all the traffic when I was on the road. Lucky I guess. I made it down in 18 hours. Gas is cheaper in Ga. ($1.77/gal ave.) Fill up before you leave the state. If you hit the construction at prime time, it will be slow. Also, if it is near freezing, watch out for slick conditions in the mountains.

Enjoy :cool1:
