My DD and I went to an American Girl doll fashion show yesterday (which was great, BTW). It was a splurge, but I entered the raffle and won Rebecca with some accessories and outfits--totaling $245! My DD will be so excited. :cheer2:

Anyway, DD was going to get Julie for her b-day and Elizabeth for XMas (both of which I bought on QVC last year). But, I guess she'll get Rebecca, too? Decisions, decisions. DD is having a 2nd tonsillectomy at the end of March, so the fashion show was a special treat before that.

Congratulations!!! How exciting. Dd just got into AG dolls this past year and we're going to our very first AG fashion show next month. Okay, the dh, ds and I will be watching the show, dd was lucky enough to be picked as a model so she'll be in the show. :yay:

That's great for your DD. The girls were so cute with their dolls. Have fun and enter the raffle!

That is awesome :yay: Congratulations :woohoo: My daughters are grown now but we still have their dolls packed away and I miss sewing them all matching dresses :goodvibes

Oh, my! A 1st tonsillectomy is bad enough ... a 2nd? Did they grow back?? I had this surgery as an adult a few years ago and have to say that it is definitely no picnic. I know kids usually handle it better than adults do, but still. I'm thinking that Rebecca needs to make her appearance during your daughter's recovery. Congratulations on your big win! :goodvibes

Wow! That's great that you won an AG doll. I'm surprising DD and taking her to our very first show next month. Any tips? Should she bring her doll? What should we wear? Thanks and sorry for the questions, but I have no idea what to expect when we go.

Thanks everyone! As for the tonsillectomy question, there are two different types. DD already had an intracapsular tonsillectomy when she was 2 due to recurring high fevers of 105F. Dr ground out the tonsils, leaving about 5-10% behind. DD's 5 now--the remaining tonsils are giving her chronic tonsillitis (big tonsil stones grow in them) and she's getting the full blown tonsillectomy at a local children's hospital. I hope Rebecca helps with the recovery. :)

As for tips for the show--definately bring your doll. My DD wore a matching outfit with Chrissa, but not everyone matched. Most girls did have their dolls with them, many were in dresses or skirts. Also, go early. We were there 1/2 hour early, and got to take pictures, walk around, get the goodie bag, and enter the raffle. It was a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the info. Good luck to your DD. Man it's bad enough to have that surgery once, but to go through it again is even worse. I'm sure Rebecca will help make her feel a little better.

piglet33...your daughter is super cute and her dress is just beautiful!!! Did you get in in DW or buy it before you went?
