I wish I had packed (insert here) for my resort room.....

I LOVE this thread. There are so many things that I did not think of. Thanks so much. Keep it coming.

One that I don't think is mentioned is the BEDTIME SNACK. My DS eats one everynight. He eats a little many times throughout the day, and often he is snacky at night. He loves pepperoni, but we packed Slim Jims and that was wonderful to have something filling and easily accessible for certain nights when he was actually still awake.

Another one for the power strip:thumbsup2. That was the best tip I ever read on these boards.

I also second bringing drinks. We packed a water filter pitcher, which was so handy, along with refillable Nalgene bottles so that we could get the bottles filled the night before for the next day, and still have the pitcher water for the room.

If you enjoy, we brought our own beer. After DS went to bed, DH and I sat on the balcony and enjoyed eachother's company over a nightcap or two.

I wish that I had brought something to organize the toiletries. I couldn't find a cheap enough over the door organizer to suit my budget, so I went without. But I noticed that the bathroom door at AKL seemed to be extra thick, I don't know that something would have fit over it.:confused3

I also wish that I had gotten a cheap toothbrush holder, or figured something out. We normally use electric, but we travel with regular toothbrushes.

I can add something to each of these... (2 adults, no kids)

Snacks -- we drive down from N Indiana -- usually have crackers, granola bars, pretzels with us for the drive PLUS we go to the grocery store and get veggie chips, pirates booty, fresh fruit, yogurt and such for snacks and breakfasts in our room.

Also, buy bottled water & beer, plus a bottle of burbon or scotch.

What about buying one of those inexpensive over the door hangers for shirts (I use one at home for when I take things out of the dryer & hang up immediately) AND then use it to hang a toiletry bag from? That way your toiletry bag or whatever doesn't HAVE to fit over the door. We stay in moderates and use a toiletry bag from LLBean, it has a hook just like a clothes hanger & fits over the bar next to the sinks. Plus, I now just pack gobs of wire hangers for our hang up stuff, less folding when I do laundry at the resort & it makes it easier for DH to find what he wants to wear.

Toothbrushes -- we're using those new Crest ProHealth toothbrushes, in addition to working GREAT (our dentist & hygenist are using them now after seeing how much difference they make in our teeth), they have a single use battery -- no need for electricity to have a powered toothbrush :)

Regarding the disposable dishcloths . . . Huggies (baby brand) has a "washcloth" that is similar to the dishcloths (no offense to those who might use the Huggies brand on their children!). Just cut them into fours (they are very sudsy) and rinse well . . . I sometimes carry them when I'm out with my kids; just add a little water, and they do a great job of cleaning up faces and sticky hands. (My kids actually prefer these over baby wipes for quick clen-ups). I know, they will work for your mug cleanings, also. Hope this helps!

Don't forget - any resort housekeeping will bring you as many extra hangers as needed! :)

This has probably already been mentioned, but we always take along lysol spray and wipes to clean the rooms: doorknobs, light switches, sinks, bathroom etc. If we we fly and rent a car, then stop on the way to the Resort for lysol :) Those rooms just are not a clean as they used to be, so we spray everything!

Oh, and we take along a zip lock baggie for the remote. Saw this years ago on 60 mins - some of the worst germs are on the remote, so just drop it in a clear baggie, zip it closed and it's germ free. :) LOL

Once we arrive in our room the first thing we dio is check the beds to be sure the linens are clean (have read way to many awful stories on the DIS) and request clean bedspreads. Although Disney will tell you these are changed between guests, they are not ~ especially in the values and moderates.

Great thread! And it's been around since 2005!!

I haven't had a chance to read all the tips, so if this is a repeat, please forgive me.

One thing I always take is a B&BW Wallflower for the room. I keep the lid that goes on the fragrance bulb, & recap it when we leave. They last for quite a few trips, & I replace as necessary. An odor neutralizer isn't a bad idea either. ;)

I also take pump soap. (I usually take a matching fragrance from B&BW, but any kind you like will do.) I can't stand wet, slimy bar soap. YUCK!

Other things on our "must take" list were already posted.

Okay, am sure I'll feel silly when I find out..but what is B&BW, please?

Great idea about the room fragrance and odor neutralizer! Thanks :flower3:

We're lucky enough to go down on the autotrain, so we have our car along. We take 2 power strips, battery charger, coffee, filters, glass coffee mug (for me, or I buy one), ibuprofen, cortisone cream (not mentioned yet), antibiotic cream, Diet Pepsi and Mountain Dew (Disney is strictly a coke and abysmal coffee kinda place), and a net bag to haul stuff to the pool in. I also watch for "thin" beach towels for water parks, etc, and one of those coin carrier necklaces for valuables at a waterpark.

For those of you who bring plug in the wall air fresheners....we have a horror story. My DS has very severe asthma, which is triggered by such things. When he was about 6 we checked into the WL, where apparently housekeeping had not noticed one had been left behind. The room was quite perfumed, and he ended up in the ER with an asthma attack, since we didn't locate where the smell was coming from until after he'd gone to bed. Please be sure to take them with you!

Wow, I didn't know they could cause such a severe reaction. Those air fresheners give me a headache after a while and several times I've had to unplug them in hotels (not WDW, but nice hotels elsewhere). Dh thinks its funny when I walk into a hotel room, take one sniff and start looking for the air freshener.

For those who cannot find the palmolive cloths you can make your own. I cut papertowels in 1/2, then fold that half and add a drop of dishwashing det. then fold in half and pop them into a ziploc baggie...... Works like a charm!!!! I do this all the time esp. for disney and for when we go camping.......

Great idea!!!! :thumbsup2 Thanks! I'll be sure to use this one!

I always find that medicine type stuff is the most $$$ to have to buy in WDW. You never know who will come down with what so I always pack:

Aloe vera gel
Burn spray
Antibiotic cream
Bandaids
Aspirin/Tylenol, etc.
Throat Lozengers
A few Neo-Citrons
Bug bite stuff
Allergy meds
Eye drops
Tums, Gravol, etc.
Instant ice-pack
Tensor bandage, a few gauze squares and tape
Pre-Cut Moleskin
Mini-scissors
Foot/sneaker powder/deoderizer
Q-Tips
Nail clippers and files
Tweezers
Lip Balm with sunscreen
TONS of sunscreen

It may sound like a lot of stuff but it doesn't take up much more room than a Gallon zip-lock back. Some of the stuff comes with us daily to the parks but most just stays in the room 'just in case'

Oh....and I always bring a few of our old towels with us. We mainly use them to sit on while waiting for and watching parades and shows. That asphalt can get mighty hot!!! They have been a Godsend on many occasions. Just toss them out before returning home.

I dunno if this has been mentioned at all, but this trip we found mini packages of toilet seat covers - for some reason I always end up in a bathroom where they're either empty or non-existant! They're really small and fit easily into a purse... for $1 in the Target travel section you can't really go wrong...

I'm sure this has been mentioned too, but we never go without clorox wipes & mini packs of wet ones (antibacterial wipes) - always good to have around, and it's nice to do a quick clean sweep of the hotel room so nothing icky is left for us ;)

How about some pampering things for our tired tootsies at the end of the day? I usually bring a small bottle of pepermint foot lotion as well as a small roller massager to work on those tired muscles at the end of the day!:cool1:

My pillow! I put my pillow in a small suitcase and then I use the suitcase for our trip purchases when we fly home and take my pillow with me on the plane.

I also must have a laundry bag because I refuse to mix dirty and clean clothes together.

I also bring baby powder. It keeps me feeling cool longer, I also put some in my shoes in the morning. I also like bandaid blisters rather than moleskin. It stays on for 7 days without a problem. The last thing that I haven't seen mentioned is a misty fan. I couldn't do summer without it.

My DH always brings bug spray and those traps that are sheets of sticky paper...he puts those under the beds in case we have any of those little lizards sneak in! (It's happened!) Also, our own pillows, coffee maker (when we're at the ASMo), Mt. Dew, and Tropicana OJ (I dislike Minute Maid).
