I wish I had packed (insert here) for my resort room.....

This Board has been wonderful for us over our trips. We got the power bar idea off of here before our Cruise -- thank goodness! Truly made a difference (our first time with a camcorder, laptop). Now with all the Nintendos & ipods I think we may need 2! Those chargers on the cell phone, Palm are large & take up too much space on the power bar.

Night Light -- we have a VERY cute Monsters, Inc. one where you open the door to reveal the Night Light part -- Sully & Mike with blue light. Adds some Disney Magic & is a real sentimental favourite now over the trips. I do have an address label on it in case we ever forget it.

We take plastic skirt hangers for our wet suits.

--Stain stick.
--A large Brita pitcher we use to refill our water bottles ea night.
--The aforementioned Digital Thermometer, meds, vitamins MUST.
--swimming shoes
--extra batteries, esp those that are an unusual type (learned that 1 the hard way)
--small baskets that nest (for packing) for ea person to put their essential park stuff: water bottle sleeve, lanyard, waist pouch, sunglasses, walkie-talkie/cell phone, autograph book, pen, camera, etc. in -- stuff gets deposited neatly when return from Parks & Mom can see easily if someone's essential is NOT there at bedtime & in morning when we're ready to go again. This has REALLY helped us.
--garbage bag for the laundry that has been held in the collapsible hamper

A string or something to attach in the bathroom or on the balcony to hang hand washed wet bathing suits. I rembered little clips - just nothing to clip them on. :rotfl:

At WDW resorts there is a retractable clothesline above the bathtub,

Slippers to walk around the room and not walk barefoot on the carpet.

Childrens Tylenal because it's expensive at gift shop.:thumbsup2

A few extra packs of lifesavers this keeps the thirst down so you won’t have to buy as many waters or sodas.

As other posters have mentioned, I like using a white-noise machine to mask sounds outside our hotel room. I can't remember where I saw this tip, but someone suggested using a small transister radio (the old fashioned kind!) and tuning it to the static in between stations! That way, you get "white noise" but it takes up less room than a regular white-noise machine (which can be bulky). I think I'm going to try it out!

This is a great thread!
I will definately be bringing a power strip.

Oh yea, and air freshener....Why hadn't I thought of that before? Oh yea, because this is the first trip with 2 teen boys. :lmao:

As previously mentioned, a powerstrip is an absolute must.

Not as essential but helpful...

clothespins to hange suits on line in bathroom. Without them, our suits all end up scrunched together or on the tub floor, never drying. :laundy:

Antibiotics for my dd who gets frequent urinary tract infections. We once lost a third of a day from our trip when we had to take her to the medical emergency center to get a prescription. Unfortunately, our doctor at home also was on vacation, and the on-call doctor did not know us well enough to send a prescription.

Extra socks for the kids. Socks at WDW are NOT inexpensive. Of course, when you buy the tackiest, silliest ones you can find, they do become great souvenirs. Dd particularly loves the princess ones with pink fuzz along the tops. Most of the furry fuzz is now gone, but she still wears them. princess:

A sharp knife (when we drive). My kids love fruit but do not like the peels. They also prefer their fruit cut into wedges.

A basket or some other sort of container to hold passes, keys, sunglasses, etc.

I'm going through your list in the quest of re-compiling the complete tip list from 2001 that people now requesting like crazy. :surfweb:

I'll add that instead of taking an over the door shoe organizer, I bought an ikea shoe bag, it goes on the closet rod but it's only 6 inches wide, that way the bathroom door will actually cloe all the way.

Me and DW just did our daily or every other day 4.6 mile prep walk for our Sept. trip. Better add Advil to the list. :cool1:

I love this thread.

We have teens - from our last adventure in WDW I noticed their bathroom junk everywhere.

So to add to this list, I will pack $1 store buckets/containers which will fit in a suit case (on the wasy to WDW, I will place clothes in them to save space).

Before we go to WDW- each teen can only bring what will fit in their bucket/container with them to WDW (make-up, hair scunchies, brushes, combs, hair jell, mirror, jewlery, etc)

Once unpacking at the WDW resort, each teen will have their own $1 store bucket/container to place all their junk in it.

I hope the buckets will kept the bathroom more organized with everyone sharing the same one. :rotfl:

Pez - I'm looking forward to seeing the long version of the list.

Now if I can talk the DSO into letting me bring all the necessary stuff from this list. :rotfl:

Good for you!!! We've just started doing this as well. We aren't going 4.6 miles yet....Now I'm motivated to get there! It has made me realize I must get better walking shoes, great way to test the shoes before the trip!

OMG:scared1: No one has said mine yet! EXTRA PAIR OF SHOELACES. Once you have a lace break on day two of a week at the world you will never leave home without them again. This is cheap/small/light so simple to pack. We have not needed them for shoes since I started packing them but we have found a miriad of other uses for them (including playing cats cradle with them in line, emergency long hair tie, tempory replacement purse strap, etc.).

I'm in the west, so my walking buddy and I are out and about at 5,000 ft. I'm really not crazy about walking uphill at altitude, (Seems like it's such hard work!) but it finally pays off when I get to Florida and my feet feel like they have wings! Hooray for walking at sea level!!

a lot of one dollar bills for tipping at the airport, mousekeeping etc....

Next time I'm packing a folder for all of the paper stuff I like to keep. (Resort maps, postcards, Pony Express Certificate from Whispering Canyon, napkins, stickers, etc.)

I also always find myself wishing I'd brought a book to read at night when I'm trying to fall asleep.

And air freshener is definitely a good idea!

I LOVE the folder idea!! It drives me nuts how there always ends up being paperwork everywhere!! I am definatley using that idea.:thumbsup2

One that I don't think is mentioned is the BEDTIME SNACK. My DS eats one everynight. He eats a little many times throughout the day, and often he is snacky at night. He loves pepperoni, but we packed Slim Jims and that was wonderful to have something filling and easily accessible for certain nights when he was actually still awake.

Another one for the power strip:thumbsup2. That was the best tip I ever read on these boards.

I also second bringing drinks. We packed a water filter pitcher, which was so handy, along with refillable Nalgene bottles so that we could get the bottles filled the night before for the next day, and still have the pitcher water for the room.

If you enjoy, we brought our own beer. After DS went to bed, DH and I sat on the balcony and enjoyed eachother's company over a nightcap or two.

I wish that I had brought something to organize the toiletries. I couldn't find a cheap enough over the door organizer to suit my budget, so I went without. But I noticed that the bathroom door at AKL seemed to be extra thick, I don't know that something would have fit over it.:confused3

I also wish that I had gotten a cheap toothbrush holder, or figured something out. We normally use electric, but we travel with regular toothbrushes.
