I wish I could lose weight....

Just know that you're not alone in this!

I'll agree with those who recommend Weight Watchers, especially if you need the meetings for support. I'd love to be able to go back, but there aren't any nearby meetings I can attend at this moment.

Jennifer also mentioned www.sparkpeople.com, which is a GREAT site! It's as good as, if not better than the Weight Watchers site. Check it out!

Don't get me wrong, I like myself and whatnot and I love buying clothes for my big behind. ;) It's more of a health reason... My back has been KILLING me since I have gained this weight, and it's very distrurbing to me that I have trouble putting my socks on in the morning....

My dh and I are commited to losing weight this year.. We're both the fatest we've EVER been in our lives... :guilty: Our goal is that by this time next year, if we've reached our own goals then we will reward ourselves with a trip to WDW. :teeth: (this was a total surprise to me since '07 in supposed to be our 'time off from WDW" year :cheer2: )

If we don't meet our goals by this time next year then we don't deserve to go to WDW. I'm not looking to be a super model, I just wish I could get out of the 20's clothes size wise! lol

Thanks for y'alls support. :cloud9:

I'm another doing WW--online only though. I didn't need the support factor of meetings; all I needed for myself was to be held accountable. If I'm spending the money, I'll make sure I'm using it & getting my money's worth. I considered doing my own thing or a free site but I know it wouldn't work for my personality. :)

I've found that without exercise, lots of water & portion control, it doesn't work. I have to keep on myself to make sure those 3 things are covered on a daily basis.

You have to want to do it though, otherwise it just won't work. Good luck. :cloud9:

Another person voting for WW. I did it two years ago, started it because I had a blood test come back saying I was pre-diabetic. I lost around 40 lbs. I was also going to the gym regularly, drinking lots of water and had switched from regular soda to diet. Now all but 10 of it is back, mainly because I stopped going to the gym and haven't been as good with eating regular meals. I find that I feel better if I eat breakfast, make sure I eat at least two fruits and lots of veges a day. I had maintained the majority of it by going to the gym twice a week and making sure I kept away from a lot of fatty foods. I let work get in the way of doing what I need to do, the last week I have not eaten until 11:00 or after and then I would feel horrible.

I wish I could too. I am on some meds that give me the munchies and make me tired and sluggish. Just like some people on chemo don't feel like eating etc, mine make me feel like eating and eating junk Add to that I quit smoking almost 2 years ago and I have packed on the lbs. I am going to see a nutritions courtesy of my dr so hopefully she will give some good advice especially how to battle my raging hunger.

If you have seriously tried diet and exercise and failed then I agree with the person who said go to your doctor and have labs done.

I am in the same boat with you. I had been thin all my life until age 19 when I suddenly blew up. I had not changed my diet or exercise.

I tried many diets and exercised daily with no luck. Last June I went to a Womens Health Nurse Practitioner who did lab work and a saliva test on me. She ended up putting me on thyroid medication, some hormones, and Fortamet (diabetic medication). SInce July I have lost 30 pounds, I feel healthier and just in the last month have started walking 3 days a week.

I still have 40 more pounds to lose, but I am now confident I can do it.

When DH and I were trying to conceive, I let my weight go because "there was no sense in getting in shape just to get pregnant." Little did I know it would take over a year to conceive! By the time I had DD, I found myself over 40 pounds over weight :(

I bought a treadmill and the first 15 pounds came off very easily. Unfortunately, DD is now 6 years old, and I can't really call those last 25 pounds baby weight anymore! :teeth:

My eating habits really aren't that bad, and I exercise regularly (I have completed a half marathon and a marathon, and run approx. 20-25 miles per week) but I've struggled with those same 25 pounds for years now. I've been to my doctor, who ran all the tests. She was quite pleased with my cholesterol levels and said I'm very healthy and maybe this is just the weight I'm meant to be. I'm not happy with myself at this weight though. I currently wear a size 10 or 12 and feel at my best in a size 6-8. I've found the only thing that really worked for me was Atkins (I lost 6 pounds the first week and continued to lose 1-2 lbs./week) but it's just not the kind of diet I feel I can maintain.

My sister recently joined WW and has lost 30 pounds on it so far. She's a Chinese food/pizza junkie, and doesn't feel deprived on WW. She just saves her "extra" points for her weekend Chinese food treat. I'm thinking WW may be the way to go for me too. Just gearing up to finally get started!

Best of luck to you, a lot of us have the same struggle!
