You know, I wasn't too crazy about them, but one of my classmates (older than me) wore black jersey gauchos with a black jersey top and she looked fantastic.
Well, I was just standing around the old water cooler with the ladies at work today talking about the "gauchos." Everyone snickered over them and said "no way." But we are all well over 30!!!
I did see a lot of the denim skirts with teh 3/4 length leggings underneath. I think it's a cute look.
I like the look, but I never buy trendy clothes, I only buy items that I can wear for years. These seem like the kind of thing that will be out in 6 months (or sooner).

I am also a big fan of "not buying trendy clothes" and continue to HUNT for the classics. However, I cannot find them. It gets worse very year. I'm shopping for my work wardrobe. What I'd love to find is a long, classy looking khaki skirt (got one years ago at Ann Taylor that needs replacing) and, also, and long, fitted denim skirt.
I haven't bought a pair yet, but I have tried some on and found there are good gauchos and there are bad gauchos. I really like the jean gauchos and will probably buy a pair of those.
Yuck, yuck, yuck! No gauchos for me, thanks. I really don't like this look. I have seen them in my office paired with high boots and with heels, and it just doesn't work for me. Of course, I am only 5'2". If I wore gauchos I would look even shorter than I am.
I once read that if you are old enough to have worn the fad the first time you should skip it the second time. I must say that while I laughed at that advice I think there is truth there. Since gaucho's were in for me in 7th grade I will be avoiding them this time around. Besides, I am short and they make me look shorter.

Very good advice. I think I was also in Junior High when this fad was in. Funny about all the short people not wanting to wear them. I'm on the taller side and am afraid I'll look like I have pelican legs wearing them based on where they hit around my knee.
I also haven't seen this look good on anyone in my office so all of you who think they look great on you--well, I want some pictures!!
