I went bagless for the first time

Went bagless for the first time this past trip and it was great! I took a little wristlet wallet with some id, cash and a lipstick. Husband stuck our little camera in his pocket or else I had it on my wrist.

We go in the winter months so will lather on sunscreen in the morning but don't bother reapplying during the day unless we are sitting at the pool.

If we need a jacket or hoodie for later we just tie it around our waists.

I HATE carrying around bottles of water. Everyone talks about doing that I don't understand why. I hate warm, metallic tasting bottled water. I'll have a glass at breakfast and at lunch. If we really need to we may once in a blue moon use a snack credit for a bottle if it's hot out.

Ponchos - we use to buy cheap ones and bring them along. Now that the kids are older we don't have a place to store them in a stroller and they usually refuse to wear them anyhow. So we just take our rain jackets and wear them around our waists when we don't have them on if there is a chance of rain that day.

Bandaids I think I had one stuck in my wristlet. If the rare chance someone needs a aspirin they can walk to the first aid centre. In all our trips to the parks I don't think we have ever had to go looking for medication and I'm not carrying around a drug store. My husband does take meds with meals and he did bring his daily dose to the park. Not sure what he had it in.

ETA we both had our phones with us too. I could fit mine in my wristlet or sometimes I just carried it. Husband had his in his pocket.

Bagless works for me. Especially solo.
Phone in my pocket and my lanyard for a bit of cash and any cards I need to carry.

Every trip I packed a bag and one day last trip i decided to Let it goo, let it go...I went bagless. It. was.
awesome.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I go to Kings Island and Cedar Point often thru the summer. I have shorts with zippered cargo pockets.....for me I put cell phone, ID, CC, park passes and car key in a ziplock bag and put it in my pocket....even riding the roller coasters and other rides at these parks haven't lost anything.

I'd love to know where people are finding (women's) pants that have pockets big enough to fit things comfortably. I haven't been able to find pants that fit me and that have pockets big enough for even my phone (or they're barely big enough and it's a tight fit/the phone can slide out). I've looked for cargo pants/shorts, but haven't had much luck. (I also have a nickel allergy, so I can't buy any pants or shorts with metal that goes through the fabric and sits against my skin, like buttons, rivets, etc. so that makes it even harder to find decent pants.)

I'll be taking at least a small bag. I have allergies, so I need a small pack of tissues and allergy meds. We'll also need sunscreen, other medications, probably a couple tampons, my phone and wallet so I don't have to worry about them falling out of my pocket (and so I can wear a skirt, which is more comfortable for me in the heat). For me, it's easier to just bring a small purse. Everyone needs different things to have a good trip!

CDN CARRIE ~ With a wristlet, I'm guessing you still had to go through the bag check line, right?

I've always kept my bag pretty light weight and small, but it was a bag nonetheless, so even though it was easy to carry, it meant waiting on line.

I think I'm going to try to avoid the bag check line this trip, if possible, at least on a few days....

Nope. Either stuck it into my hubby's pocket just to go through the gates or stuck it in my jacket pocket if wearing a jacket.

Yes, Rosco, I've been going bagless for a few years now and LOVE it:cheer2: With the old keys to the kingdom cards, I just used a small pouch with necktiers that held the card, some bandaids, ibuprofen. My hubby held the actual cash, one credit card, id's, that is it!!!:thumbsup2 It was so nice to just stroll right on in the parks without stopping or bag search. I realize that not all people can get by without bags cause of kids, etc, but it is really nice if you can. Would never go back to a bag now.:)

Been going bagless for 2 seasons now and love it:
-Have a phone in one back pocket (gotta have my MDE available!)

-.99 poncho package in other back pocket

-tiny wallet in one front pocket (drivers license; ins card, credit card, AP discount/parking card and some $$)

-Car Key in other front pocket

Eyeglass Holders for sunglasses so they can hang around my neck indoors, and also one on my regular glasses if we're going to be doing a coaster.

Only time I take a bag is if there is a lot of rain in the forecast so I can take our bigger, heavier reusable ponchos

Its great not having to go through bag check!

Bagless on my last trip.. Wore a Sparkle Skirt or I had a wristlet. It was great.
Next trip I'll have four kids so we'll see how that goes.

I was surprised to see a family at DHS yesterday with 3 kids that went bagless. This was right at the turnstiles so I don't think it was by using a locker.

We usually visit in the fall for F&W so the weather can be tricky. Cool in the AM, warms up quite a bit and then sometimes downright cold at night! For this reason I usually cannot go bagless.

Don't hate but I'm a little too fashion-conscious to wear a fanny pack, cargo shorts or start clipping things to my belt loops! I usually take a small cross body bag that's relatively flat. Depending on just how cold it will get at night, I can usually fit a folded up cardigan inside. For the nights where a sweatshirt is needed I will tie it around my waist or get a locker.

My only issue with the crossbody is that sometimes I get pain in between my shoulder blades. Usually switching the sides the bag falls on alleviates this. Anyone else get this?

I use a small backsack because it's much more comfortable than carrying a phone in a pocket. I hate that.

My backsack holds:

chapstick
sunscreen
makeup (just powder)
brush
hair binders
napkins
any feminine products I might need
phone
and a small zip bag with credit card/cash.
Oh, and a few ziplocks.

I don't even notice I am carrying it most times, and it never is a nuisence on a ride or dining.

To each his own..

OK, so I am thinking about going bagless the next trip. This thread has been such an inspiration. The only problem is that I wear glasses, and often switch between regular glasses (indoors) and prescription sunglasses. I thought I could walk in with my glasses, and my prescription sunglasses on the top of my head, but in rides (such as Space Mountain), I have to take both off and I usually store them in my small purse. WHat do others that go bagless do about sunglasses? I'm a girl and no way that I can carry my big prescription sunglasses in my pocket, along with my phone, wallet and regular glasses.

my wife use to keep her "other pair" on top of her head. waiting to get on thunder one day the kid behind her bumped her and they flipped off onto the track between the car. the CM grabbed them with a grabber thing.
she has a small hard case that she puts in her pocket. a lot of the time ill put it in mine if she is not flipping them on and off a lot.

I am a ex pack mule and I have to say........ IM FREE!!!!!! :lmao:

went from camera bag, fanny packs, back pack to strollers to backpacks in forty plus years and after dd got to her teen years, we all have gone bagless. if it don't fit in the pocket, it don't go.
it is just one less thing to worry about and lug. like I told dw, we are going to a park for a few hours not in the wilderness for a few weeks.

Hmmmm, I read through this thread and I can see how it would benefit someone to go bagless. My hubby is usually the pack mule and he hates it. My question is, how do you store autograph books? Both my girls still want to bring autograph books, and those would always go into the backpack. And I can't imagine going without our water bottles.

Going "Bagless" Checklist:

The water bottle and misting fan clips are short so the bottles hang against your hip, not further down on your leg. Alternatively, you can use a Disney water bottle lanyard that they sell in the parks that fits across your neck and under your opposite arm if you don't have a belt loop on your pants. The mobile phone case can go in your cargo shorts to avoid bag check if it's too large. Cargo shorts hold backup cash, Band Aids, Tums, Tylenol.

I'm sorry, this makes me giggle. I'm picturing a person in overstuffed cargo pockets, with mister fan, water bottle, phone case, and other items hooked to every available belt loop! All to avoid the bag line?

I'd rather bring a small bag with the items I want, than clunk along with so many things stuffed into pockets and clipped onto me. But that's just me. I love my Baggallini Messenger Bagg. Compact, carries all I need with room to spare, and it's comfortable!

I went bagless (sans kids) for a few hours at DL in 2009. We were doing a quick few hours in the park, then having a planned midday break. All I had in my pocket was my phone and ticket.

Liberating.

My kids are still pretty young so it'll be awhile before I can go bagless with them. We're going on October and while I won't be completely bagless, I'm hoping to get by only with my Vera Bradley all-in-one-cross body bag.
