I thought he did a great job. I loved the part where he poked fun at himself, that made me LOL.

I must say it made me cry. It gave me faith that Bush is a strong, decisive leader with a heart. It was one of the best speeches he's ever given IMO.

For a guy who's not great at giving speeches, he gave a pretty darn good one IMO.

::yes:: I agree. I've never been overly impressed with his speeches but tonight he was at his best.

I thought it was a bunch of hogwash.

Oh no, Kerry will tax and Spend.

But what is Bush doing? Spending and cutting. And that accomplishes what? Larger deficit that your children and their children will have to pay for. What happened to fiscal conservatives?

Not onlythat, he talks about Saddam, but fails to mention OBL. Or did I miss that part?

I've been flipping between CNN and MSNBC, and even the liberal talking heads thought it was a winner!

Well, LoraJ, that is one of the major problems I have with President Bush.

President Bush was great tonight. Very presidential and human as well. A very good contrast between President Bush and Kerry, and IMHO no contest at all, President Bush all the way!!

By the way, bsynder, Mel Martinez did very well also!

Ok, I was on the phone during the speech, but I thought I saw the speech get interrupted as someone was escorted out-did I imagine that? What happened?

It was protesters.

You should all turn on C-Span 2 now to watch Kerry's rebuttal.

:)

This is the first time a candidate has felt so desperate to hold a stump on the very night of an expectance speech....very desperate indeed!

Oh Wow. . .he was excellent. And, I have to say, that a few times on this board I stated he might not be the best public speaker or I might have said he wasn't as eloquent as I'd have hoped. I was wrong. He was excellent. I was completely impressed.

Fred Thompson delivered a beautiful introduction, too.

All the pundits on pbs praised him (but 1!)

bsnyder, I saw Mel Martinez come on, but then our satellite signal was lost d/t a storm. . .

That's what I think about Kerry's midnight rebuttal. . .gotta be desperate! I'd even put a wager on this one. . .Bush was great. . .this is no contest anymore, I think.

Great job President Bush!

During Kerry's rebuttal he mentioned that he was in Viet Nam. Did you know that???;) Its amazing how he skips over nearly 20 years of his life. He was a commander in Viet Nam 30 some years ago for 4 months and that experience is a reason we should elect him.

Dawn........ Senator Kerry talked about a lot of other things tonight besides Vietnam. The point he made about Vietnam was that Cheney received deferrment after deferrment. How dare he attack John Kerry's service to this country. I find "chicken hawks" like Cheney to lack credibility.
