I was almost named.....

Krystyna Suzanne (with that spelling). When the nurse asked my mom to spell it shortly after giving birth, she was too tired and said "Just use Tina Sue." :rotfl: When I was growing up, I only heard the long version of my name when my mom was yelling at me. ;)

My mother wanted Lauri. My father wanted Dominique (after him).

Mom won. Drats! I know if I was a Dominque I would have been tall, dark haired and mysterious.;)

I was almost a "Courtney". Not sure why that didn't pan out...

My mom is a Shakespeare fan, so I was actually named after "Titania" in Midsummer Night's Dream. My mom also despises country music, so i can alwasy remember her getting all kinds of bent-out-of-shape when people would ask her if I was named for Tanya Tucker. As a teen, I told her she should have left the I instead of changing it to a Y if she wanted that to be cleared up... I like Tania better, to this day.

Mom's name is Ann, and I got her name as my middle name.... Tanya Ann.

My mom had no other names picked out for me. She knew in her heart that I was going to be a girl, and my name was going to be Kate, as she always wanted a Kate. Apparently my dad didn't want that though because his grandmother was a Kate, and from what i've heard she was not a nice woman. My mom won though, and i'm Kate. (not short for anything, just Kate)

My brother would have been Noel if he was a girl, as he was supposed to be born on Christmas. However he was a premee (sp?) and his name is William. We call him Billy.

I am Linda Lee but a boy would have been Dwight David after Eisehower.

I was *thisclose* to being Rebecca instead of Julie. Not sure why one was chosen over the other. If I was a boy, I was going to be Jeffrey Allen.

My name is Kimberly but I was supposed to be named Kelly. Five women that gave birth right before my Mom all had little girls and they all named them Kelly. So my parents changed it at the last minute .

My name is Star Ann

The other names Dad thought of for me were

Amber Light
Shannon Doa
Theris (if I had a twin brother, he would have been Therin)
Ocean Breeze

Aren't I lucky I got Star!!!!!!

My 4 yo sister (dad remarried later in life) is Panda Loretta...no lie!

I was almost Rebecca, but they decided to name me Rachel after my grandmother.

Strange thing happened; when I was younger and still living at home, my Nana (dad's mom, who I was named for) passed away. She was donated to a local medical school, and then cremated, and her ashes were sent to us to inter. So, there was this box at our house for a while labeled "Remains of (my exact, full name)"

I was nearly named Wilomena, my mom loved the name. (me - not so much!)
She changed her mind when I was born. I had a head of flaming red hair - everyone commented on it as a negative thing. (not to get political but I was born in a maternity hospital in a very protestant part of Belfast, we're catholic, it was early 70s and all)
So my mom decided to name me after a very fierce, very irish, pirate! I'm Gráinne, named after a pirate pirate:

I was Robert after my dad. They were positive I was a boy. I almost left the hospital w/o a name.:confused3 Westside Story was on TV and they both decided on Maria.

My sister came along after me and again they were sure she was a boy! NOT. She was very premature and they named her Gina. A few days later they changed it to Michelle because the name was more fitting for such a peanut.

After two girls both with M's the third came, finally a boy! NOT.:rotfl: Three M's.

DH and I are thinking of just Kate if we ever have another girl.

It's a great name! She'll just be explaining that she's just Kate, not short for anything. I once had a lady argue with me that I was lying about my name! It doesn't happen often though.

My middle name is Elizabeth. Kate Elizabeth flows quite nicely in case you wanted an idea ! ;)

I would have been Hannah.

My maternal grandmother, Patsy, died March 23 and when I was born on April 7th, mom switched gears and I became Patsy.

Middle name is my mother's first name.

They say they knew I was a girl, even though she didn't have an ultrasound.

Krystyna Suzanne (with that spelling). When the nurse asked my mom to spell it shortly after giving birth, she was too tired and said "Just use Tina Sue." :rotfl: When I was growing up, I only heard the long version of my name when my mom was yelling at me. ;)

I love this story:rotfl2:

My name is Star Ann

The other names Dad thought of for me were

Amber Light
Shannon Doa
Theris (if I had a twin brother, he would have been Therin)
Ocean Breeze

Aren't I lucky I got Star!!!!!!

My 4 yo sister (dad remarried later in life) is Panda Loretta...no lie!

Your dad has intereting ideas for names:rotfl:

My name is Kimberly but I was supposed to be named Kelly. Five women that gave birth right before my Mom all had little girls and they all named them Kelly. So my parents changed it at the last minute .

;) I could have guessed you were close to my age before seeing your siggie!

I am a twin. Our combinations were:

Joseph & Jeffrey
Katie & Kristen

Well we ended up Boy/Girl and it is Joseph (he was called Joey when little and now Joe) and Kelly. Not sure how Kelly came into play except my dad had a thing for Charlies Angels and suggested it from there. Might explain my life long addiction to TV :lmao:

I used to really hate my name, but now I don't mind it too much especially since it flows really well with my married name.

I was almost a "Susan" but my mother's sister had a baby girl a few months before I was born, and she "stole" the name from my mom for my cousin.

It's just as well. "JerseySusan" doesn't have the nice ring that JerseyJanice does. ;)

:rotfl2::lmao:

Well if it were up to my grandmother it would of been Penny................my last name was Nickle. :lmao: My mom said no way so Paula it is.

I was almost a Jennifer, but my mother's best friend had a baby just a couple of months before my birth and named her Jennifer, so I got Jeannette Marie after my mother's sister, Mary Jean. (I'm glad too, there were WAY too many Jennifer's growing up)

If I had been a boy I would have been Sean Patrick. True story, in my first grade class there was a boy named Sean Patrick, if he had been a girl his parents were going to name him Jeannette Marie.

It's a great name! She'll just be explaining that she's just Kate, not short for anything. I once had a lady argue with me that I was lying about my name! It doesn't happen often though.

My middle name is Elizabeth. Kate Elizabeth flows quite nicely in case you wanted an idea ! ;)

My best friend's middle name is Kate, and I was going to use it for my DD's middle name, and my mother insisted that that was too weird. WTH? I love the name "just" Kate.
