Last year I bought 2 new black bathing suits - identical w/a slip piece covering it. They are very slimming. Usually I wear bathing suits w/shorts. Last Sept-Nov I managed to loose about 15lbs and wished I could have gotten a 1piece bathing suit to reward myself that I didnt need to wear shorts with.
Should I go for that tankini this year? Can I buy it this summer and hope to fit in it in Nov? Can I do it guys? How about the 2piece that are shorts & a top?

YES!!! You can do it!!! I plan on buying a tankini myself for my cruise in December! There's no way I would be caught dead in one now - but by then I hope to be down about 50 pounds!

It will definitely be incentive for you if you buy it now and look at it every day! :)

I bought a tankini, but it has shorts for bottoms and a tank type top. I think it covers more of me, than my one peice does. I actually feel more self conscious in the one peice, but I will be wearing the one peice to FL. this month :)

BUY IT BARB! Hang it right in the middle of your kitchen as insentive to NOT eat those lunch box snax!;)

ABSOLUTELY- buy it!! WHat a motivation that would be to get those few little pounds off. Good for you for even thinking about it!

Do it!!!! I wore a tankini on our last cruise (tank with a skirt style). I find one piece do not cover enough....
Well, now that I lost 25lbs so far, and three weeks to go till my trip, I am considering a two piece...hmmm....do I have the guts??

Well I guess if I am telling you to do it, I better! LOL!!!!

I say go for it!

I agree!! What could be better motivation then that? Definitely buy it and enjoy yourself when you wear it!! :)

I may need to speak with my neighbor friend who helped me tremendously when I lost the weight last fall. She had me on her scale weekly!
Do you guys usually buy bathing suits 1 size too big so they fit correctly?
great idea to buy it now and keep it in sight!

GO FOR IT!!
When I get to my goal weight I plan to buy one for myself as my reward! :teeth:

IGTD...I wouldn't recommed buying a suit especially a tankini a size larger...I think that rule only applys to skimpy bathing suits.

It has been my experience that you should buy the same size you wear. Why would you want a tankini bigger than you would normally wear a tank top?? JMO...but whatever size you get...GO FOR IT...you won't be sorry!!

My tankini is my goal for the summer.

I bought one last summer that I loved. I spent $80, which is so much more than I usually spend. I told myself that if I spent that much I would have to wear it. I wore it a few times, but I had to wear shorts over it. It still looked good.

Well, I gained back all the weight I had lost last spring. Now I have to relose it so I can wear that tankini this summer.

I think tankinis are a gift from God!! For years I've struggled to find a bathing suit that fit top and bottom, that didn't expose to much of the parts of me that don't look very good exposed, if you know what I mean! LOL I'm tall and one piece suits creeped up AND down! I spent most of my time trying to rearrange and put things back where they belonged!! Tankinis give full coverage AND fit a long and ample torso!!

The only thing I would caution you about is the fact that many tankinis don't have very good support in the bra area. I don't know if this is a problem for you or not but for me no support means a lot of jiggle and upper body movement. I think you get the picture.

When in doubt, buy quality!!

I've told you all much more about my body than I intended to!! LOL

You can do it, you can do it!

I bought a new bikini last year. The top is a medium that I hardly fill out. The bottom was only available in XL, M or S so I got the XL. It still fits now, although it's baggy. But at the time I didn't care if the sizes matched. Just get what fits and what you feel comfy in! ;)

I've already placed an order for a cute orange tankini top w/boy shorts to wear in September (hopefully) or December (definitely)!! You can make it if you believe you can and I believe in you! Think of how proud you'll be when you can slip on that tankini and strut your stuff.

I have a question for you tankini wearers. I've never even considered one because I thought the bottom part of the top might roll up on me, & if it did that would not be a good thing! What has been your experience with that? Does the top really stay put? I'd like to get one as I lose some of this weight because it would cover the scars form my surgery in Jan, but still be 2 pcs.
As far as sizes go, I find that most swimwear stretches when it gets wet. The one exercise I still do well is swimming, so I need something that will stay put in waves, on waterslides, & diving. If I went with a bigger size than I really need I would definitely end up revealing more about me than I want to! I just bought a new 1 pc because we will be hitting a water park on our trip next week. I bought it a while ago & went a size smaller because I had every intention of it fitting right by the time we get there. I'm probably going to be a little short of my weight goal, but I've tried the suit on & it will be fine. I will still be wearing shorts to walk around in because I'm a little self-conscoius, but I look better than I did back in Jan!
I definitely agree with everyone who said to buy a good quality suit! I bought an inexpensive one last year in the style I wanted (actually the same style as my new one) & I just don't look or feel as good in it. :(

Perfectmatch...I would not recommend wearing a tankini to a water park...or anyother place that requires alot of activitiy..although I have worn it to the beach without it all hanging out.

I would never wear it to a waterpark or attemt to dive in it.

As Amelia said...it does not give good support of the upper body, and it will come up going down a slide or jumping up and down in the waves. I played water volleyball in mine during Easter..and my family had a great BIG laugh!!!

who doesn't give a hoot about what I look like in my bathing suit. First - I know bt the time I get to WDW in August, I will be smaller than I am now. Second - I am not modest, so I always wear a 2 piece, I just like to have a higher waist and lower cut legs. Third - I guess this is the clincher, I spend a lot of time floating around in my pool, so I have a good (Horrors) tan, and that always makes you look better. There are so many self tanners on the market that work so well and look so natural, if you are not a sun lover, do the self tanning. You will look better.

So if you see someone at the AKL pool in August and think - who told her that looks good? Not to worry, I get a lot of dirty looks, but I am happy and thats the most important thing. I draw the line at lime green thongs at least!
