I want to name my baby...Tiana

Also, bear in mind that from kindergarten through 8th grade you child will be called "Dizzy."

Ah, hadn't thought about that, but you could be right on.

An application for employment was received at my workplace. Every manager had a giggle when the receiving manager shared the applicant's name; Crystal Chandelier. Seriously!

Oh my gosh, that's unreal.

LOL

Op, I like the name Disnee for a girl, but not for a boy. The name sounds feminine used as a FIRST name. I know, sounds crazy considering Walt Disney was a male, lol.

I think it's a cool name. Sounds more male to me - maybe because I'm thinking of Walt Disney. The only downfall I can think of is that kids usually shorten names - David becomes Dave, Matthew becomes Matt and Disney might become Dizzy. If you can live with that, then go for it!;)

All well put. Also if the point as quoted above is to have all kinds of cutsie wootsie stuff with "Disney" on it for this child that sort of doesn't work if you use "Disnee" (and I'm sorry but "Disnee" is just a hot mess to look at)

Her stripper outfit themes are all set though. 'Disneeeeee' looks like nothing so much as a stripper name.

Agree with the majority that cutsey stupid names are awful, will result in people not taking a person seriously (I too have laughed at names on resumes) and endless mocking.

As you said again, you're picking out a name that you think is perfect for your taste and your interest and what you think would be cute. However, it's not about you. It's about an entirely other human being who will one day be 40 and sighing and saying 'My parents thought it was cute. Yeah. I know. Hated it my whole life.'

Also - 'Raider'? Seriously? Is he supposed to be a criminal or a bad football player? Or a combo deal, considering Oakland and the NFL.

OP, good luck to you all getting pregnant! I am sure after trying for 5 months, when you want a child very badly, causes much anxiety. I hope it happens soon for you!

I named my daughter Hunter. People either love it or hate it. I'm fine with that because I still love it (for a girl, not a boy--but that's just me). Anyway, about the Laker comment--that made me (sorta) laugh because I had someone ask me if we had another child if we were going to name it Fisher, because DH used to duck hunt and fish too. Now, he does neither of those things and runs so by using that person's logic, I'd now name the next one Runner, lol.

My birthday is Christmas day and my mom wanted to name me Merry Noelle. Thank God my dad had some sense and told her to forget that.

Its your kid, your love (all things Disney that is) but in the end, be prepared to a lot of explaining through the years of this child's life, especially those elementary and middle school years.

I always think if you have a cute, witty name you love, name your dog that. They'll still love you and be fine with it.

Good luck with having this baby, one thing is for sure, she or he will be loved and get to go to Disney a lot no matter what you name it!

I am a teacher, so I have seen how kids can be cruel to others with strange names. But for me the worst was last school year, when the mother of one of my students was named Princess. It was really awkward to call her and ask for Princess. She was a really nice lady, and insisted on being called Princess instead of "Mrs. Smith"- as in "oh, just call me Princess, Mrs. Smith is my mother in law."

If it made me uncomfortable, I can only imagine how employers etc felt. Think of your child as an adult, hearing "I'm going to Disney" or "Disney is so overrated" or even "I hate Disney!". This is not the same as giving your child an old fashioned name or an unusual spelling. It's a pop culture reference. And while YOU love all things Disney- the whole world doesn't. Disnee might be cute if your child is bubbly and outgoing and looks like a princess. But if your child is shy? Stands out physically? Has any sort of challenges? We don't know what our children will be like and not many will wear that name well.

I think you should name your baby whatever you want. There are a lot of kids now that do not have cookie cutter names. Both my children have unusual names. Don't listen to the haters everyone at some point gets made fun of regardless of their name.

It's great to be able to name your kid whatever you want.

Although I would not name a child Disney or Precious or Apple, if that is what people want, that's what they should do.

OP, I would pick a more common middle name, just in case the child does hate your creative name. Or you could go with Parks, lol. ;)

Hey there... I want to name my baby Disney... YES I said Disney... What do you think?
I know im going to be getting a lot of BS on here for posting this question but im curious. I mean if people can name their child Apple, Princess and Hennessy why cant I name my baby Disney?
Any time I see the name Disney anywhere i get butterflies. A rush of happy endorphins take over my body  I still havent ruled out any Disney character names but the name Disney just makes me happy.
If i were to purchase any Disney sippee cups ,clothing from a Disney store, games made by Disney his or her name will be on it. I know when I was younger i loved having clothes with my name on it.

I wonder if this will cause my child to file for a name change though... will my child be able to be a Lawyer, Attorney Disney Doe, or Judge Disney Doe, or Doctor Disney Doe...hmm I have alot to think about...

oh btw DH is onboard with the name too are we made for each other or what!!!! Give us some ideas on names that you think represent having love for Disney we'd appreciate them... whether you agree with us or you disagree or just trying to be plain rude for attention we'd love your opinions

....how about 'Disney' for a middle name? :confused3

I was just going to suggest this. If I had an "unusual" name that I truly loved, I would make it my child's middle name.

Look at Jessica Simpson---She just had a baby girl, named her "Maxwell" and they plan on calling her "Maxi"..poor child is going to be called "Maxi Pad" for the rest of her life!

Isn't Disney a real surname?

What difference does that make? Most surnames are not trademarked with parks and stores and so on associated with then name. It's not equivalent to using your maiden name or something like that.

Well I mean if it's a legit name then why not? I know it's unusual but unless Walt's family is the only one in the world with the Disney name then I don't see how it can be a problem legally.

I say name that baby whatever you feel their name should be. You can second guess and throw out what ifs till the cows come home but that doesnt mean any of it will actually happen.

As long as you raise the child with love, and a good spirit, I dont see any problems. People making fun of a childs name or judge them based on it only means the other person has a problem, not your child.

You really don't see the issues a child would face having the first name Disney? Just because something is a "legit" name doesn't make it a good one or a name that will not result in teasing, laughing, jokes and being overlooked for jobs.

I know but I wasn't talking about it. Some people said it could be a problem because it's copyrighted and stuff and I was just pointing out that if it's a legit name then there shouldn't be any problem. Whether it's a good name is a different story really and not the issue I was addressing.

I don't think anyone meant the copyright meant you couldn't use it..simply that because it is, because of how well it is known and what it is known for it will set a child up for a lifetime of difficulty.

Oh, okay then.

Anyway IMO any surname used as a first name is silly and Disney isn't an exception so...
