I want a boat

Nice lines, I like it but I'd stay away from leather seats. Not really practical on the water.
I've had several boats and when the last one went, I swore I'd never have another. My one exception is I'd like to have an airboat.
Where would you be using it? Fresh water, lakes/rivers? Salt water? All of the above? Have you ever had a boat before?

We've had various boats before, from a three person inflatable dinghy with oars only to a 19 foot, 230BHP bowrider, "Allegro". For most of the year, they lived in a local harbour but for two blessed weeks a year, we upped anchor and made for Salcombe, a little estuary on the southern most tip of Devon. Calm blue waters, sandy beaches, creeks, little waterways... ideal for just messing about in boats. There were a little group of people who always went there and stayed in a small block of apartments, time share. We all had little put-put boats, usually about 15 foot long, 75BHF.

Couple that with a little experience with the RN on Pursuer patrol boats, and I've just developed an affinity with the water :)

My DH built a gorgeous 13 ft. boat out of wood during the COVID lockdown. You can sail it row it, and use a tiny outboard motor in an emergency. We still haven't been able to get it fully registered because our Fish and Game office doesn't know how to handle a boat like this one. They keep asking for info we don't have because my DH built it. Right now it's a lovely sculpture in our driveway.

Though that is really impressive I would be super worried to be on a boat that was hand made by anybody but professional boat builder.

ah it's totally doable- my little brother built a sandbagger, and my father built a double masted schooner out of cement. It crossed the ocean twice and spent a lot of time in the Caribbean.
He didn't build it, but my grandfather turned a old navy rescue boat into a sailboat.
None of them professional boat builders.

That's just an insane number of engines
It's honestly not unusual anymore. We are near Lake of the Ozarks and I see them all the time down there, or on the way down there. They are so pretty, and glide right across the water. Personally, I don't need to go fast enough to want that many motors, but they are pretty. All I can think right now tho is how much it costs in gas, just to start it. It was $6/gal on the water a couple of weeks ago for the "cheap" gas. And I bet it holds over 100 gal. Ours has 2 350s and it's got a 120 gal tank. There will be much less cruising around, and a lot more anchoring in a cove swimming/fishing this year.
No you don't
Right? At least not while gas is so dang high. Also the fact that depending on where you live, you can only use it a few months out of the year, but you have to pay for it all year lol.
You know what they say about the best days of a boat owner's life, right?
Truth....

We have a 22 ft bowrider/trailer. I’d give it to you free, but my DH would go out and buy another one.

I'm sure you think you do.

I'd recommend getting something more practical like a dozen Alpacas or or maybe just pre-purchase your burial plot and casket. If you do that and not by the boat you will stay out of the casket longer.

Ahh, a boat...a hole in the water into which one pours money. :rotfl:

DH really wants to get a boat but I grew up with my family owning various boats so I do not want that financial responsibility as an adult! We've rented a few times and that seems to hold DH off for a while!

My DH bought a kit from a reputable company out of the Chesapeake Bay. He did a fabulous making it and it's truly a thing of beauty.

Just take the ferry.

But if you absolutely need your own:
1. Buy a canoe.
2. Rope the canoe to a friend's speedboat.
3. Weeee!
4. Put the canoe away and get back to work.
