"I Wanna See My Castle!" October 2013 TR *COMPLETE* **NEW TR LINK!!** 7/3

That is such a cute tradition to keep. I can see it now, you taking Pax to get a haircut on his 40th birthday. I really do appreciate that this is even still there; A real barber shop on Main Street. So many little gems have been removed, so it's nice that this remains.

2 certificates is better than 1! :)

Haha, I get a kick out of the mirror and everyone taking pictures.

Oh you MUST stay and watch Dream Along if it's just starting. You MUST! So glad you finally got to see the whole thing. Such a great show.

Tape tip for the WIN! :worship:

I'm a couple updates behind.....

Great photos of the Little Mermaid queue and ride. There's so many interesting items and Ariel artifacts to capture.

You can never post too many Tangled restroom area photos (unless of course they are inside the bathrooms beyond the sink area! :lmao:) The photos are ah-mazing. I love all the details captured. There's so much to take in in that area. Love it!

The Wendy interaction and trying to get Paxton to pretend to fly is adorable. Great job capturing the moment.

Isn't that funny how when you don't plan a meet up it can happen. That's awesome that you ran into MEK! :lmao: Great photo of you too.

Loved the restroom symbol design on the pumpkin.. now I'm going back through my photos to see if I missed that or if it was even there. Very good eye.

Ahhh how cute is Paxton getting his haircut. That was nice of them to issue a re-do of his first haircut certificate. Of course now that you had it redone you found the original. Always happens that way! ;)

That's so sweet that they were able to have the original CM sign your certificate! In my experience, things always show up once you finally replace them...

Very nice haircut!

Such great DAWM photos! I love the music from that show too.

I like your tradition of getting DS' haircut at Disney! Such cute pics!

I'm glad you were able to catch Dream Along With Mickey and watch the whole thing- love that show!

Great pictures of dream along with Mickey! I still haven't stopped to watch that show, I definitely need to see it on my next trip!

Whew! I am finally caught up!

Loved seeing your Universal and IoA day, such a huge difference from the crowds while we were there. We didn't make it on Despicable me as a result which is probably collectively everyone's biggest regret. Transformers was amazing, absolutely incredibly well done! It's funny, at the time it felt like we did so much but then I read a TR like yours and see just how much we really did miss.

I love the haircut, it's a tradition for us too :goodvibes

The potty story was hilarious!!!!!

What a great haircut experience for Paxton! :thumbsup2

Love the Dapper Dans! That's one thing I missed in October. Somehow I roamed around Main Street for over an hour and missed them!

I was like you with Dream Along with Mickey never having seen it in its entirety prior to my October trip. Watching it from start to finish made the story so much more coherent. :rotfl: Imagine that!

I just wanted to let you know I was reading along too! Last year while planning our DL trip I read one of your reports over there and now that I am back on the WDW side I just stumbled upon this the other day and was like "Hey, I remember them from Disneyland".

I really enjoyed your Universal report. Now with my youngest being 10 and we are currently reading the HP series together (on book 2) I can see us leaving the bubble in the future to explore here.

Your pictures are sooo great. Can't wait to hear more!

I'm glad that you were able to get a replacement certificate for the first haircut. Even though you really didn't even need it. :rolleyes1

I'm glad that the haircut was a success and that you got to see the Dapper Dan's and the castle show after it was done. I'm like you, I've seen bits and pieces of that show several times, but I've just never been there to see it from start to finish.

Paxton did great with his hair cut. I didn't see a single tear, maybe a little frown, but definitely no tears. And nothing like being a celebrity after getting a hair cut. How sweet that they filled out Paxton's certificate again! :thumbsup2

Nice pictures from the castle show.

And - divide and conquer - the best way to get a meal. It stinks that it was so crowded that day. Come to think of it the park was fairly crowded that day. We ate Tony's, so no wait.

Yes, we are making progress on the haircuts. :rotfl: His first couple, he was totally fine, but the last few times he freaks out for them to wet his hair. So I was happy there were no tears shed this time.

Yes, it was definitely pretty busy in MK that day! I'm sure the morning EMH contributed. We almost tried to come up with a different plan for the day, but then I just couldn't imagine being in Disney World for Paxton's birthday and NOT being in MK! It was nice having extra hands to pass Paxton off to so DH and I could split up and get our food. Cosmic Ray's was a madhouse!

Haha! He will be balding and I will still make him get a haircut on Main Street. :lmao: It is so awesome that the barber shop is still there, you're right about that! I was so disappointed to find out DL did not have one when we went in 2012. It really drives home that old town feel of Main Street USA.

As soon as DH and I heard the music starting, we knew there was no way we were leaving until it was over! Love that show!!

The Tangled are and the Ariel queue both are so fun to explore all the little details! I did take one photo inside the bathroom, but it was the wall just inside the entrance. :lmao: A lady saw me and I got kind of a funny look, but oh well. Obviously she just doesn't GET IT!

The Wendy interaction was one of my favorites! So glad we decided to stay in the line even after finding out there would be no Peter Pan.

Thanks! It was so fun to finally have my first DIS meet, and to have it be someone I had been looking forward to meeting for so long!

I should have known when I got the replacement that I would find the original of that certificate. :p But I'm still glad I got the new one because I had really been beating myself up for losing the first one.

That's so sweet that they were able to have the original CM sign your certificate! In my experience, things always show up once you finally replace them...

Very nice haircut!

Such great DAWM photos! I love the music from that show too.

That's absolutely true for me too! But it was still very kind of them to give me the replacement, and just lucky for me that the CM happened to be there to sign it!

DAWM is such a great show. I can't believe we had never stopped to watch it in full before now!

I like your tradition of getting DS' haircut at Disney! Such cute pics!

I'm glad you were able to catch Dream Along With Mickey and watch the whole thing- love that show!

Thanks! It's definitely an interesting experience each trip. :goodvibes But it's a great memory for DH and I!

It's a GREAT show!! And best of both worlds when it comes to pirates & princesses.

Great pictures of dream along with Mickey! I still haven't stopped to watch that show, I definitely need to see it on my next trip!

You definitely should! Hopefully you stumble upon it from the beginning like we did instead of having to try to fit it in somewhere, because for us that never seems to work out. It's really cute and the music is infectious!

Whew! I am finally caught up!

The potty story was hilarious!!!!!

We have been SO lucky to go to Universal at such slow times of the year for them! My friend's husband and brother in law waited something like 3 hours for Transformers over the summer when they went! :scared1: That's insanity!! But it is definitely an incredibly well done attraction! Hopefully next time you are able to check out Despicable Me. It's REALLY adorable!!

I was glad there were no tears involved! I was a little worried because we were going on day 3 of no real naps, and it could have gotten real ugly real fast. :lmao:

Too bad you missed the Dapper Dan's! They are so entertaining. I love stumbling upon them when we are walking around shopping or people watching.

:rotfl2: Even though I have listened to the show start to finish probably hundreds of times now, there is definitely something to be said about having a visual to make it all make sense!

I just wanted to let you know I was reading along too! Last year while planning our DL trip I read one of your reports over there and now that I am back on the WDW side I just stumbled upon this the other day and was like "Hey, I remember them from Disneyland".

Your pictures are sooo great. Can't wait to hear more!

Thanks for joining in! I hope that will not be the last time I do a DL trip report because we LOVED it there and can't wait to go back!

Oh my goodness, I have been saying since I was still pregnant with DS that I can't WAIT until I can read Harry Potter with him!! :rotfl: If y'all enjoy the books, WWoHP is definitely worth the side trip for any HP fan. I can't wait for the expansion!!!

:rotfl2: Isn't that just the way it goes? Get a replacement, find the original. I still haven't figured out how we didn't notice the certificate in the box LAST year on Christmas because we definitely used the plate...

That seems to be a common problem with DAWM. I think it falls into that category of, "Oh, it happens so many times a day, we'll catch it one of the days we are here" and then you get so tied up in everything else, it gets missed. But it is definitely worth it if you are able to see the whole thing on your next trip!

Day 3 Continued: Thursday October 24th

We made our way through Storybook Circus to the Fantasyland Station. DS wasn't minding the transportation.

3-238 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We had to wait a few minutes for the next train, but none of us minded. My dad had been looking forward to this for a long time! DS is just a little bit crazy about trains. By this, I mean he is obsessed with all things locomotive. At 3, he can tell you the difference between a steam engine and a diesel and name pretty much every character from Thomas & Friends. So my dad had really been looking forward to riding the train with him since we didn't all ride together on our last trip.

Soon enough, we could hear the whistles, and the engine made its way around the corner and pulled into the station.

3-240 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-239 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

My mom asked if they could "steal" him to ride the train and have DS sit in their row with them. I said it was fine, but it actually worked out even better when we were able to get the two rows at the very front of the car that face each other and all ride together. Think this kid was excited?

3-242 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-243 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We actually ended up not taking the full circle tour, and instead we all got off at the Main Street station. But from there, we split up. It was nearing 3 pm, so DH and I wanted to stake out a spot for the parade with DS. Since it was their last day in MK, my parents along with Katie & Mitchell wanted to go ride the Mountains again. And that left my in-laws who decided to stay with us. Here's a crappy iPhone pic I took from the train station looking down at Main Street.

3-244 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We found a spot almost exactly where we had watched the parade from a year before, in front of the Chapeau at the point where the parade makes a curve from Main Street towards the Town Square Theater. Comparing photos, it seems as though the parade last year started near the fire station and approached us from our left side, but this year must have started in Frontierland as it approached us from the right and then went into the fire station after. DS was a little silly while we waited, but then once he could hear the music, he was excited to see what was coming.

3-252 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-247 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-248 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

And then, it was parade time!! I don't even know if we realized it at the time that it would be our very last time seeing Celebrate A Dream Come True, which is sad now that I think about it. We had always avoided the afternoon parades before DS, but now that he was around we had been seeing them more often and really enjoying ourselves as we watched him have a great time! I am hopeful that the new parade will be really amazing, but I am going to miss the music from this one.

Day 3 Continued: Thursday October 24th

3-268 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I love this picture! Even though you can't see DS at all, it was SO hilarious to see him run away when the Queen of Hearts leaned in super close!! lol

3-269 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-271 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-272 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-273 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-274 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DS once again LOVED the parade! He loves all things Disney characters, so a whole parade full of them, most of them giving him high 5's, is right up his alley.

Once the parade ended, we headed back up to the train station where DH took a much better photo of Main Street than I had on my phone.

3-275 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We boarded the next train and set off, headed back to the Fantasyland Station so that we could use our FP's for Dumbo. But first, some sights along the way as we passed through Frontierland.

3-276 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-277 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-278 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I always seem to forget that the train goes right through my favorite attraction, Splash Mountain!! So I got a brief glimpse of my lovely before we made it back to Storybook Circus. Our FP's got us right onto Dumbo without waiting at all except for the current rotation to end so we could board the next set of Dumbos.

3-279 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-280 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DH got into the Dumbo in front of ours so that he could take some photos of DS and I flying along behind him.

3-282 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Here we go!

There are a lot more, but I won't post them all. Luckily, DS has seemed to relax on this ride after being nervous about it last trip and on the knockoff Dumbos at Dollywood the past Spring. He really enjoyed himself! And then when we came off, he wanted to take dozens of silly photos with the stationary Dumbo outside.

3-284 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

3-293 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

After saying good-bye to Dumbo, we decided to make our last stop of the day at Mickey's PhilharMagic.

DS was ready with his Opry glasses!

Donald Booty!

DS actually kept his glasses on for the entire show for the first time ever, and he really seemed to enjoy it! It was so cute watching him reach out for Ariel's jewels and feeling him jump in my lap when Simba roared. And of course, his favorite part was Donald falling into the back of the theater!

She's a beauty, even from the back!

Day 3 Continued: Thursday October 24th

After PhilharMagic, we decided it was about time to head out of the park for the day. The MNSSHP guests were pouring in now that it was after 4 pm, and we could definitely tell the park was getting more crowded! I had considered skipping doing MK all day and celebrating DS's birthday by doing the party that night, and at that moment as we saw the changeover starting to happen, I was really wishing we had done that! But now looking back on it, I'm so glad we kept up our traditions and did the early breakfast and haircut and all the toddler-favorite attractions instead.

DH spotted some costumes he really liked, including these.

3-305 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Who ya gonna call?

3-306 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We did stop for a PhotoPass photo on Main Street before we got too far, and DS wasn't being super cooperative so it isn't my favorite. But I wasn't expecting much on his third day without a real nap!

3-307 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

PP-014 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I really loved this...

3-308 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Yes, yes you will!

Somehow, as we were exiting the park, we totally missed the point where we had to turn to go up the ramp on the Express Monorail side and ended up having to take the resort monorail instead, which took forever! It took almost 30 minutes just to get to the TTC. But we did meet a nice family who took notice of DS's shirt because their last name was Paxton, and we had a nice time chatting with them while we waited to get moving and get to our destination.

At the TTC, we realized we hadn't taken DS to the bathroom before leaving the park, so we did that there. For some reason, DH was videoing us as we came out, just as DS decided to start imitating the Disney Ducks walking around. It was pretty cute!

Once we got to the car, it was only a few minutes before we were back at Bonnet Creek and had to decide what to do for dinner. We looked at the menus for the on-site places and ultimately decided to order pizza to have delivered to the room. While we were waiting, I got another video of DS playing with bubbles on the balcony. I had bought a couple dozen little bottles of bubbles with Lightning McQueen on them as favors for his birthday party and brought some of the leftover ones for exactly moments like this. Kept him entertained while we waited for the food to arrive.

Once our pizza showed up, we scarfed that down, and it was pretty good! We were ready for cake at 6:30, but as usual, my parents were late! So it was more like 6:45 before we started. I had also brought the leftover party hats, so everyone got to wear one while we sang Happy Birthday for the 3rd time that day! DS enjoyed that, although he did ask where the candles were.

3-313 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Birthday kisses!! he really loved that, as you can tell

After enjoying yet another delicious Cold Stone ice cream cake, I was definitely ready to get DS bathed and into bed. He gets EXTREMELY hyper when he is overtired, and he was already showing signs. It's best to get him ready for bed ASAP and into a quiet dark room or he will just go absolutely crazy. So once our family went back to their room, I threw him in the tub for a quick bath and got him into his pajamas. He was out like a light in no time. DH and I took showers ourselves, and then settled on the balcony for another fireworks show!

First, we watched IllumiNations with the show music playing on DH's phone while we watched, which was really cool! Then almost as soon as that ended, it was time for HalloWishes at MK off in the distance!

All in all, I think we gave DS yet another AWESOME birthday in the Magic Kingdom! We had an absolute blast doing all of his favorite things, meeting some wonderful characters, and having another delicious breakfast at Crystal Palace. I was surprised how well he did for not only getting up super early and not having a nap at all, but also being that it was his 3rd day with no real nap to speak of. I was impressed! But I'm sure it has a lot to do with that pixie dust they pipe into the air there. :goodvibes And to think, it was only our FIRST Disney day, and we still had the rest of the trip to look forward to!

FIRSTS FOR TODAY
*Entering New Fantasyland
*Enchanted Tales With Belle
*The Under the Sea queue
*Experiencing the Tangled restrooms (and YES, they are definitely an experience!)
*Meeting Wendy Darling
*DIS Meet! Running into MEK
*Seeing Dream Along With Mickey start to finish

UP NEXT: Jambo, Everyone!

Such a cute pic of your dad with DS! He looks SO happy on the train.

Love all the parade pics and the pics of you and DS on Dumbo :)

The ghostbusters costumes are so cool!

The videos of Paxton are adorable, the quacking one is so funny!

The coldstone cake looks delicious!

Great pics of Illuminations & Wishes. Again, SO COOL that you had that the kind of view from your room!

I definitely think DS had a fantasic bday ;)

AWWW DS DID look awfully excited on that train. It's amazing how what seems to be the simplest things (Train, carousel) prove to be the big winners with kids. Walt sure knew what he was doing.

Oh I think the new parade is going to be AMAZING from the floats I've seen. I for one can't wait.

OMG I adore the second photo with Peter and Wendy and Alice and Hatter. Too awesome with the faces.

AHHHH even just a few MNSSHP photos makes me wanna go back SO BAD!!

WOW, how amazing to be able to view TWO sets of fireworks from your room. What a great end to a fantastic day!!

Sounds like such an amazing day, start to finish! :dumbo:

I totally understand your feelings on Celebrate a Dream Come True. That parade, and especially the song, will always hold a special place in my heart but I'm convinced that Festival of Fantasy will be even more magical! From the pictures I've seen, the floats look so detailed and beautiful!

Drizella is too hilarious! Honestly, if I could be any face character in the parks, I'd have to pick her, even over the princesses. She's such a riot and being her would be SO MUCH FUN.

I had no idea that the stationary Dumbo outside of the ride existed! That's definitely something I'll have to look for next time I'm there. Such a great photo opportunity!

This picture is too cute! He looks so excited!

DS was ready with his Opry glasses!

This also completely melts my heart. Y'all are such an adorable family! Every aspect of this picture just made me smile when I saw it. Not to mention, that cake also looks delicious!

How cool that you could see TWO fireworks shows from your room! One right after another! And syncing the Illuminations music with the show--that's some serious skill.

I can't believe this was only your first Disney Day! It already seems like you've done so much!

Oh my gosh, you can tell from the pictures how much DS loves trains! I bet you can't wait until he's big enough for Big Thunder.

It looks like you guys had AMAZING spots for Celebrate a Dream Come True! SO many great pictures, especially that one of my queen Belle princess:

Your husband's shirt is AWESOME! :thumbsup2

Haha, I love the quacking video!!

That cake looks great, and the kisses picture is precious.

Those fireworks views are just incredible! To be able to see two fireworks shows from your balcony is unreal.

I am positive that we cannot go to WDW without our boys getting on a train. Paxton was all smiles! Nothing like a happy boy! Thomas is still on a high here too!
Your husband always has the best photos and I really love the parade ones. I totally forgot they were getting a new parade! Glad I saw it last time!

Looks like you had another very successful birthday for him!

Love hallowishes! You guys had like a perfect view!
popcorn::

Ah I love your "pre-haircut photo" haha:rotfl2: That's how MOST of our photos turn out!! :lmao: Aww, Paxton looks so handsome with his new Do!! What a fun birthday tradition!

We only saw bits & pieces of Dream Along with Mickey.... next time we'll have to make sure that we watch the whole show. :mickeyjum

Your DH got some FANTASTIC parade pics!! I felt like I was there! I'm sad that we didn't have a chance to see Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade on our trip especially now that's it done. But I'm really excited for the new Festival of Fantasy Parade... some of the new floats look awesome!

A train ride, Dumbo ride and a PhilharMagic show... sounds like a perfect 3 year-old birthday to me!!

And yes I totally agree, the pixie dust in the air definitely helps with skipped naps! pixiedust:
Wow, what a great first Disney day! Can't wait to hear about the rest.

I love all of Paxton pictures. He looks so happy while riding on the train.

I can't say I blame him for running away from the Queen of Hearts. She is a little creepy. :rotfl:

That cake looks super yummy!

What a great day in the MK. Paxton did really have an awesome b-day!

Fun Update!
