"I Wanna See My Castle!" October 2013 TR *COMPLETE* **NEW TR LINK!!** 7/3

Early mornings at the MK are the best. Main Street looks so peaceful without the waves of guests walking up and down the street. :rotfl2:

And the Halloween decorations in your photos look great! I've always enjoyed thhose seasonal decorations, but they haven't been my favorite. However, your pictures make them look really nice. I bet they were great to see in person.

They really are! Thank goodness for the DIS, because I never knew you could get into any of the parks early before joining here. That has been one of the best pieces of advice I have learned!

The Halloween decorations were never my favorite, nor was Halloween itself. But having DS just a week before Halloween, I now associate the whole holiday with his birth and it has made Halloween in general a lot more exciting for me!

AND...I just noticed the link in your signature!!! Just commented & subscribed!!

Those Magic Kingdom shots are amazing. I love the Halloween decorations!

YAY for pixie dust! So adorable!

DS is little enough that he can get away with bedhead. I wish I could still do that :lmao:

The Princess Minnie statue is my favorite. She is the cutest. I managed to snag a Princess Minnie 2014 pin on my most recent trip and it's one of my favorites!

I'm excited to read your Crystal Palace review! We just decided on booking it for July, but we haven't been since...2010, I want to say?

Still following along, of course! Hooray for finally being in Disney!! What a fun birthday that must have been for your DS!

Free Parking... NICE!!!!

OK now THAT is magical. Emtpty Main Street USA. Just beautiful.

I could not agree more. Once upon a time Disney really went all out in their seasonal decorating. Now it's just Main Street mostly. What they do is beautiful, but I want MORE!!!

Yaaaay for your first Disney day!!! And for DS's birthday! SO exciting! party:

Wow, your DH took some AMAZING photos! I really love the Magic Kingdom Monorail pic at the TTC. And so many great shots of an empty MK!

I really wish that I could hand the camera over to my hubby but he can't take a good pic to save his life! He would have definitely taken those pics with the top of the castle cut off, lol :lmao:

Can't wait to read about your Crystal Palace breakfast. We are thinking about trying it on our next trip.

Wow! Even for early ADR entry standards that Main Street was REALLY empty! I was wondering if it just looked that way because you were in the front of the pack but the picture looking back down towards the Train Station still looks awesomely deserted! :thumbsup2

Great pictures of the Halloween themed hub statues. I don't know if you got around to see them at night but the lighting on them were great!

Looks like a good time at IoA. Aside from the part about Forbidden Journey trying to take captives. Too bad you didn't get a chance to ride during a breakdown. You could have gotten your wish of living inside the castle. :rotfl2:

The pictures with Paxton and Spidey/Green Goblin are great. I've never really taken much time to check out those characters and how they interact. I have to say that I'm glad to see that they finally upgraded their vehicles from old ATV's with bald tires to some newer equipment. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Nice score on being able to upgrade to a fireworks view room. And I really like your idea for a "clean" bed and "dirty" bed. :rotfl:

The pictures looking down Main Street completely empty are great. I always love seeing the fall decorations on Main Street and seeing them frame an empty street with the castle at the end is just ideal. :thumbsup2

It looks like Paxton was having some fun burning off energy before breakfast. Can't wait to see how it goes with the characters. :thumbsup2

Adorable photos!! So much fun to get onto main st. early. Definitely one of my must do's too. I was sad not to go to CP this trip - I hope Paxton loved it (i'm sure he did!). His bedhead is still adorable!! such a cutie pie.

Thanks! :goodvibes The Halloween decorations are so fun. I love seeing MK all dressed up. I just wish they did it for more holidays, like maybe Easter too.

:rotfl: And he does get away with bed head, ALL THE TIME. As soon as it starts getting even a little longish, it's crazy in the mornings. I am with you, I would love to be able to pull off that look too!

CP is a staple of our trips now, and this trip didn't disappoint!

Love all the early morning pictures!! Hooray for an empty park ;)

It was really nice that they gave us some time before the EMH crowds were let in. I was worried we would all be let in just prior to 8 am and miss the chance for those photos.

Still following along, of course! Hooray for finally being in Disney!! What a fun birthday that must have been for your DS!

It really was! He still talks about it, so I think he appreciated it. :goodvibes

Unfortunately that was the only day it happened, but it was nice anyway!

I was surprised just how empty it was. But I'm sure people who like to book those pre-park opening ADR's were turned off from booking that day because of the am EMH. Initially, I thought about just doing the breakfast another day, but I really wanted to do it on his actual birthday. I'm glad we kept it that way, because I think it was the emptiest I have ever seen it!!

Totally agree. Love what they do already, but wish they would just extend it out into the park the way DL does. Even if it's just some garland or lights here and there throughout the lands, or land specific trees around the park. Can you imagine Liberty Square decked out for Christmas?? That would be amazing!

Super cute pics! :)

Thanks! :goodvibes

It has really been so fun being able to be in MK on DS's birthday the past two years. I think I am going to have a harder time than him when we are not there in 2014 for his birthday!

DH has only more recently become interested in photography, and turns out, he is pretty good at it! :rotfl: I still take a few pictures here and there on my iPhone or point & shoot, but I liked letting him take over the picture taking for the most part. And I was able to focus on getting more video, because I feel like we never get enough good video!

CP is one of our favorites!

I think it had a lot to do with the fact that there was am EMH that day. Most people book those 8 am ADR's to get a jump on the crowds, so there isn't as much incentive on an EMH day, I guess. :confused3 Whatever the reason, it worked for me!! :thumbsup2 Loved having the hub almost entirely to ourselves.

I don't think I ever did get to see them at night! I'll have to add that to my list of things to do next trip. :goodvibes

At that point, I probably would have been begging to leave!! :rotfl: Living in the castle is one thing, but being stuck in those restraints is entirely different!

I don't think I had ever paid attention to the Marvel meet & greet characters either, so that was a nice surprise that Paxton enjoyed them so much, even for not really being familiar with them. He knows who Spider-Man is, but that's about it as evidenced by his lack of knowledge of the web shooting pose. :lmao:

The bed situation worked PERFECTLY!! :rotfl: It was an OCD mom's dream setup. I can't stand to think of him getting into sheets dirty for a nap and then sleeping in them again after his bath that night.

Main Street was awesome that morning, and the weather was great. Definitely the perfect start to our Disney part of the trip!!

Adorable photos!! So much fun to get onto main st. early. Definitely one of my must do's too. I was sad not to go to CP this trip - I hope Paxton loved it (i'm sure he did!). His bedhead is still adorable!! such a cutie pie.

I didn't know about the early-entry until I joined the DIS, and now I'm hooked!! It's a must-do for every trip from now on. :thumbsup2 The bedhead was still pretty cute, but I have to say I wasn't sad to see it go later on!!

Day 3 Continued: Thursday October 24th

Apparently, my parents had stopped to take a PhotoPass photo on Main Street prior to meeting up with us on the porch of Crystal Palace.

But anyway, once we were all together, our pager buzzed and we headed inside. We were seated on the left hand side at a corner table right next to the bathrooms. The table was covered in Mickey confetti for DS's birthday! DS was very excited to be able to collect more "pixie dust" to add to his collection from that morning.

The characters had not started coming out yet, so we went for our first rounds at the buffet while we had time. I didn't get photos of everyone's plates, but there was a lot of puffed French toast happening at our tables!

Although that last photo may give the impression that he scarfed the food down, he actually did not eat all that much at breakfast. Just a few bites of yogurt and some of the French toast. He has a hard time focusing on food when there is so much else going on around him. This is mostly the reason we are thinking that next trip, we will continue our Crystal Palace tradition, but will likely have that as our only character meal of the trip instead of booking our usual 2.

After eating a bit, we spotted our first character making the rounds...Tigger!

After Tigger came Piglet! I am by no means a big Winnie the Pooh fan, but I do think Piglet is adorable. Mostly because he is so little and also because he is a big ball of anxiety like I am. Haha

Waving at Piglet. Check out the hair!

His big thing this trip was wanting to give all of the characters a High 5!

We had kind of a lull between those first two characters and Pooh & Eeyore. Our sever was great though, and just when DS was starting to go a little crazy at the table, he brought out a birthday cupcake and a birthday card signed by all 4 characters! The server led us in our second rendition of Happy Birthday for the day, and DS was all smiles!

I then made the grievous, unforgivable mistake of cutting DS's cupcake in half to make it easier for him to eat. Oh, the horrors! He was about to the point of a meltdown when Nonni came to the rescue and held the two pieces together for him to take a bite. Then it became a game of "Don't Bite Nonni's Fingers" and he was happy again.

3-065 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Eventually, Eeyore made his rounds and all was well with the world again in DS-land.

DH also played with settings on his camera and took some pictures of me, then one of my fabulous Rapunzel Magical Ribbon per my request. It's my favorite of the 5 mini-bows I got before the trip!

And just when we thought we were going to have to bail without meeting all 4 characters, Pooh finally made his way into our sections circulation, so we entertained DS for a few more minutes until he arrived at our table.

I didn't mention, but all day on our Universal day, Mitchell had been trying to get DS to warm up to him, but DS refused and turned away every time Mitchell tried to talk to him. Finally, at the end of this breakfast, DS switched gears and decided Mitchell was an okay guy. From that point on, he called him his "buddy Mitchell"...only Mitchell started with a B instead of an M. LMAO! The DIS-censors would get me if I tried to type it out. I'm sure you get the idea. It was pretty hilarious, but DS has since figured out how to correctly say Mitchell.

Buddies!

UP NEXT: New Fantasyland!

Since this will likely be my last update before the holiday, I hope everyone has a blessed & Merry Christmas!

Your character interactions are so adorable! Paxton looks so excited and overjoyed in every single picture! His collection of pixie dust is just precious, too.

Merry Christmas to you too; may it be filled with magic! Can't wait for your next update!

I love ALL of these pictures, so adorable! The one of DS waving at Piglet is so cute :) I'm glad he was able to add to his Pixie Dust collection ;) I'm also glad the cupcake meltdown was handled and that Nonni kept all her fingers ;) Love your Rapunzel ribbon!

Aww, that picture of Tigger hugging you and DS melted my heart!

That is a really nice autograph book, by the way!

Looks like an awesome meal, and a very merry Christmas to you too!!!

Looked like a really fun breakfast at Crystal Palace, love it there! DS' autograph book is perfect :goodvibes

Emma princess: x

I love Mickey Confetti (not that I've ever seen it in person).

HAHA Pax and I have that in common. Can't focus on food when there's so much else to do! I guess that's why I never do TS meals.

One of my goals last trip was to meet Piglet for the first time. I won't say whether that was accomplished or not.

OMG that is TOO FUNNY with "Mitchell". :rotfl2:

oooooh puffed French Toast! Sounds delish!

haha, I tend to not consume a whole lot during character meals too! I get so excited and have a hard time calming down enough to actually sit and eat!! :rotfl:

What a great autograph book! I just went back into your PTR to see if you had more pics of it... and you do! LOVE it!!

And such a cute Rapunzel bow. Definitely something that I would wear. :lovestruc

So far it's been a great start to Paxton's 3rd Birthday! We want to plan our next trip so that we are there when Bronwyn turns 3! Can't wait to hear about New Fantasyland...

This has me craving puffed French toast and some breakfast lasagna!

I love kicking off our trips with a pre park opening at Crystal Palace! It wasn't possible on our last trip because we booked too last minute and we didn't want to pay for character meals with our 4 month old who could be napping though the meal (no set nap schedule, especially on vacation!)
