I used to be a Tide snob

My youngest is prone to excema so we use the HE Tide free and clear. It is pricey, but out HE washer really only needs 1 - 2 tbsp to get the clothes clean. I never ever use the amount they recommend as my washer was always full of suds after. So it may be expensive but my bottle lasts me forever and ever. I also use unscented bounce as a dryer sheet b/c of the sensitive skin in the house. My clothes smell clean but not perfumey. I hate strongly scented clean clothes.

You can get for $11.99 a few times a year too, thats when I usually stock up. However since I have had my front loader I have noticed that it tends to fade my clothes faster so I only use it on whites. I have gone back to Tide for everything else. I'm pretty cheap though  maybe I'll try it in liquid form to see if doesn't fade my clothes.

Is that for the big 275 load box, or the smaller one? The 275 load box lasts me forever, since I normally only use 1/2 to 2/3 of the normal scoop.

I haven't noticed any fading with using this detergent, but I had fading when I used Cheer.

We use Tide powder here too, bought at Costco maybe once every 9 months or so. We have a front loading HE washer and use regular tide (about 1/4 to 1/3 the recommened amount).

I only buy Tide powder as its the only one that doesnt bother DH's skin. Interestingly enough the Arm and Hammer caused quite a reaction to him (when we were 1st married I tried it- then immediately switched back to what my MIL told me to buy :lmao:)

I also love Downy as it makes my towels really soft and prefer it. However, since this is the budget board I will mention I sometimes use vinegar instead of fabric softener. It does a great job.... I have for weeks now as need to make a Costco run for the Downy. And no, our clothes just smell nice and clean, not like pickles :)

Tide also makes my families bodies smell weird after we've been outside.

It's just an awful rusty smell. It took awhile to figure out what made us "stink". We used to always say "ugh, you smell like outside!"

I use Wisk now. Since we have an "He" machine, so I am interested on anyone's findings on a good, inexpensive "He" formula

We have an "He" machine too and use Costco's brand (Kirkland). We are very satisfied with the product and works very well with our machine. As a member, we get coupon booklets periodically. We wait until they have a coupon for their laundry detergent and save a few extra bucks. Their product is much cheaper and performs just as well as leading brand (IMO).

Anybody ever use EXTRA? Its often dirty cheap at CVS. Is it a You Get What You Pay For detergent?

When my kids were little I was a devout Tide user. Now I buy whatever is on sale. Purex is probably what I like the best. Otherwise it's Solo, A&H. I'm saving a bundle.:laundy:

To save a little...I buy the big 80 load box of Tide HE for around $10.88 and use a coupon, the stores here usually run it on sale when the P&G coupons come out each month. It is cheaper than our Sam's price,I think, per load.I don't use a full scoop, even for really dirty big loads. Also, I buy Arm and Hammer or Purex HE then I wash my dark items or items that aren't stained/really dirty with that.Often, I get the Purex for $1.99 a bottle. So it's Tide for my whites(socks, undies,pj,etc.) and most other things get the cheaper detergent.

I had to go look and I was wrong, I have the 180 load box. I didn't knwo there was one even bigger.

I recently started using wal-marts brand after years of being a tide only snob. Soo much cheaper-we have an he, and are using liquid. Comes in mandarin orange, lavendar, and spring meadow or something like that. I can't tell the difference. Seems to work well, and my dh works construction, so very dirty clothing!
