I unplugged my TV and DISH DVR...will my shows

Yeah, I'm not sure what you think they would be recorded ON, if you unplugged your DVR. :confused3 Plus, your dish/converter box is where your digital TV signal is coming from, even if you had some other device to record it on. It will now be recording static.

Technology has come a long way, but we're not there yet to do what you want. You need this: :wizard:

still record? I'm on vacation.

Don't feel bad OP, I did the same thing last summer. I always unplug everything on the way out for vacations (we get bad thunderstorms here and didn't want lightning hitting anything) I realized when we got home, my Mad Men didn't tape....duh!

I was so mad at myself.

FWIW - Optimum's DVR+ will still record during a power failure. (Not the "normal" DVR function, the DVR+ function only).

During Hurricane Sandy, I was without power for over a week. When the power was restored, all of my recordings during that time-frame were waiting for me on my DVR+.

How does that work? Does it store the data somewhere else then downloads it after power is back on?

One time we went to Disney and DH did this. I was so mad when we got home!

He knows not to do it anymore! ;)

I have never unplugged ANYTHING when we go on Vacation??:confused3

We used to unplug our computers if we were leaving town, just in case there was a big storm with possible electrical surges. At some point we stopped doing this. :confused3
