I tried to donate blood today

Local blood drive today from 1pm-4pm. We got there at 1:15pm and I was given #20 and they didn't even start drawing blood yet! I was told it would be atleast 2 hours before it was my turn. I felt bad because I couldn't wait, I have to go to work at 4pm, but was happy with such a turnout. Last time there was a local blood drive, only 15 pints were collected all day. I will be going to the local blood bank on Monday to donate.

Well, at least you tried! That's a long wait!

My work used to have blood drives and they'd give you a half day off for doing it!!!! They'd give you a voucher for a half day that you could save and use another day!

Of course, they stopped doing that a few years ago but it got many employees including me to give blood every 2 months like clockwork!

I stopped when I quit to have my DD. Now I go whenever I see a blood drive in my town or if they call me to give platelets which takes a bit longer to do.
