Deep Fried PICKLES!!!!!!! OMG!!! We went to this place in Ocean Springs tonight. Aunt Jenny's Catfish. Southern Living Magazine has voted this place to among the top twenty places to eat in the south. This place was awesome!!! They served the sweet tea in tin cups. They served Barque in bottles, the old fashioned bottles!!!. I looked at the appetizers and decided to go for it. The fried pickles looked like miniature potato chips. The breading was seasoned and a little salty, but, boy they were good. Especially dipped in coctail sauce!!!. Next week I'm going to try Fried green tomatoes!!!

Fried pickles are one of my favorites foods, my next favorite?.....you guessed it - Fried green tomatoes!! We have a fabulous little restaurant called Pappy's in Blairsville Ga that serves the best of both!:sunny:

There's a cajun place here that serves fried pickles. Not bad:D

I've never tried them, but I want to because I love pickles! But I really don't like fried food. I'm conflicted. :p

Fried pickles are great- just imagine the hot juicy pickle from the top of a burger, but with a tasty deep-fried batter around it! Yum! They are great with ranch dressing.

So, I've heard, but alas, no ranch dressing to be found tonight. I'll have to try that next time!!!

They serve them several places here, we love them! I never thought of them as weird ;)

But to truly enjoy them, you must use ranch as your dip of choice ;0 No other way!

I love pickles but I've never had them fried...I was always a bit unsure about them but now maybe I'll have to try them.

Hi fellow Mississippian (But you live in a much better part of the state!!)

I'm opposite, Fried Green Tomatoes are one of my most favorite foods ever!!!! Fried Pickles are good too but nothing is better than Fried Green Tomatoes, you MUST try them.....YUM!

Oh and Maggie your conflicted ???? :teeth:

We use to buy those at the Sonic, they called them PickleO's. The were really good, but they don't currently have them on the menu here.

They are very common here at places that serve catfish. I think they did originate in Mississippi though.

I took a friend of mine who was visiting from California to Hot Springs, AR. We were walking down the street and saw a cafe that had fried pickles. I was trying to explain them to her when one of the people eating at a table outside offered her some to try. People are very friendly here. That would have never happened in CA.

those fried pickles on central avenue in hot springs are great arent they:)

That is EXACTLY what would have happened in Blue Ridge or Blairsville GA!::yes::

DH had fried pickles on a business trip to Nashville, TN. I thought it sounded nasty but he said we had to find a recipe so reluctantly I found one and Fried Dill Pickles quickly became a family favorite. Our youngest DD asks for them at her birthday dinner!

This is one of our favorites! For homemade you need :

sliced dill chips
mushroom batter

fry em up like you would muchrooms. YUM!!!!!!!!!!!
