I tried, I really tried re: Test Track

I can't for the life of me understand how Disney doesn't create a Test Track app where you can design your vehicle ahead of time if you'd like and you can upload it to your MagicBand. Capacity issues ahead of that step in the current queue probably won't help save much time but I don't think this would cost much money to create and my son would love it and probably would play on it all the time from home even.

We have skipped test track so much I can't remember when I was on it last. DH and I both worked for an automotive supplier, so enjoyed the old testing scenario. Won't ride it without a FP, and with the tiering we have opted for Soarin.

Oh man, if they made this I would wast SO MUCH TIME on it! Even when I didn't have a trip planned.

Have to agree with the OP. Test Track is a sad shell of what it used to be before. It was so cool before. It was a literal Test Track. You tested out various parts on the car (i.e. brakes, weathers tests, etc.) And now they have just dumbed it down. Maybe the queue was to hard to maintain, maybe people didnt like it, or maybe someone bumped there head and forgot what a great ride it was. Idk, But now its just sad. Now there is no narration to tell you why you are going through these obstacle courses. Just every now and again numbers pop up next to "created cars." Like whatever car you create has any impact on the ride. Its stupid im sorry.

Didn't say the structured recall exercises were difficult; they require an elementary level of cognition, which is why even younger kids get into them...but they require the desire to want to do them. It's just not what our family enjoys spending time doing. The first time or two it was ok, after that, no. Fun for your family, annoying for ours, but not because we aren't intellectually capable. We simply don't find it entertaining. (We do love to mindlessly tear around the outdoor track, however.) Hence the desire to have the option to bypass the design exercise. Again, my family skipping the design room does not in the least detract from the experience for those who enjoy it and want to spend their time doing it. As Helen Reddy sang on "Pete's Dragon," there's room for everyone in this world... including folks who would rather not spend the time in the design room on Test Track!

We don't find the interactive stuff entertaining, either. We miss the old TT, the feeling of being in the factory where the cars are built, going through the "tests" as if we are the test dummies. The new TT is just flat. Play a video game, ride in the dark, then go outside on the big track. B-O-R-I-N-G. This redesign kind-of ruined TT, in our opinion. I feel the same way about the interactive ending at the end of Spaceship Earth, too. That refurb completely ruined what had been my favorite ride in all of WDW.

I will admit, I much prefer the new queue. The old one, while entertaining, was so loud! The constant noise was a bit much if you had to wait in stand by. I appreciate how much quieter the new queue is and how much the sound is deadened in there.

I agree...I think the new version is the opposite of interactive. You spend all this time creating a car that never really matters in the scheme of the attraction. The performance of your car is NEVER altered and 50% of the time the screens showing you "how well your car did" aren't even working. Not only that, but the removal of the pre-show and narration that accompanied the first version leaves this one feeling cold and robotic. Zero personality. Riding the speed limit for most highways is not what I would consider a "thrill" attraction, but at least in the old version, they kept building up the possibility of becoming a crash test dummy...THAT created a sort-of thrill. This one...is just plain boring. Almost the equivalent of Alien Encounter becoming Stitch.

Agreed. The cacophony of banging tools may be tolerable for three minutes, but after 30 it is enough to make me wish the crash wall at the end of the ride did not open.

Our kids must have a good imagination, or reasonable expectations, because they didn't have either of these issues. We've ridden the new TT about 10 times and haven't heard a kid mention what you are referring to. Not saying it doesn't happen but we haven't experienced it. YMMV.

There really is no right or wrong in this whole discussion anyway since it's all based on preferences. :)

Agreed. I was not trying to say otherwise. :) Everything about Disney vacationing is about preference.
