Sorry, but after riding this attraction many times since the re-imagineering I have come to the conclusion that it is terrible when compared to the original version. They actually dumbed it down, a lot.

The whole build your own car thing is a cool aspect, but it doesn't really translate at all to the ride itself. All that happens is your car pops up with a random number next to it.

Beyond that, all they did was add a bunch of glowing painted walls.

I can't ride it without having the original narration running through my head: Belgian blocks (removed), without ABS, with ABS (not just weird spiel about extreme weather that makes no sense with the motion of the vehicle), extreme temp tests (it was actually hot and cold), and corrosion test (which was a cool moment when the kuka arm blew mist in your face, but now it's gone). The part where you come around the corner and get surprised by the semi is not as good due to the Christmas lights. No more vehicle being smashed into the wall just before you head outside. I even liked the heat imaging so I could see how hot my arm pits were in August.

Bummer. I get it from your perspective. I feel the opposite. The original bored me and was soooooo dated.

I like the new car designing a lot. Kids love it too. The indoor part of the ride is lacking in imagination, I agree. The whole ride is a little disconnected now versus the original theme, but I like the updated look, the car design and the competition with other riders, and the ending is still great. I prefer the new version, but I get why others like the first one.

Too bad, we never got to ride it before. Our upcoming trip will be all of our first time on TT!

I agree... while I do love the design your car aspect, I really think the glowing walls is absolutely boring!

This used to be one of my favorite attractions but now we rarely ride it. I find the whole bogus car design thing maddening since if you used even one brain cell to think about it, you would realize the car you eventually get in looks nothing like what you designed, and you are sharing the car with people who also designed a car that looks nothing like what they designed OR the car you are in. So the entire design thing is just another holding tank for you to wait in and has no correlation to your ride. If there was some connection to what you designed and what you ended up riding in, that would be impressive. For me, I'd rather just look at the crash test dummies getting their knees hammered than go through an elaborate but pointless exercise. I also am wistful that the interior now just looks like the inside of our shopping mall glow golf. I still love the outdoor track part, but it is becoming harder to justify going through all the upfront pre-show diversion to be able to get to it.

The building your car is now the best part of the attractions, which is just wrong if you ask me. There was so much more they could have done. Just from a creative standpoint the ride really took a step back. I'm dumb, so I don't even know what the heck is the theme of the new ride portion. Like look at the 3 rooms that used to be the hot, cold ,and corrosion testing rooms. Only one has something sort of cool, the aero stream over the car, but that's not even that good.

I feel like they've recently (as in within the last year) increased the speed on some of the turns, which helps, but still doesn't get it back to the original thrill in the hairpin turns, the sudden ABS stops, etc.. And the scare from the semi is more now like, "Oh, there's a truck there," rather than, "#$&*#**!!!"

I do like the redesign as far as graphics, and I do like the interactive part, but I wish you didn't have an eternity to design the car. It's a nice touch, I just wish it didn't mean they calmed the ride down.

Wait until the next retheming in 2030 and maybe they'll change it back.

Hate on it all you want. But what else are you going to ride when you're at EPCOT? Ellen's energy adventure? Figment? Living with the land? The 3 callaberro's? Nemo over and over?

Of course not. You WILL ride Tron Track, you WILL design a car.... and you WILL like it.

Sad but true. I really don't like it. It lost all its zest and it just feels like some weird Tron off-shoot. Building your own car lost its appeal the 2nd time around we just by-pass it if we can. Despite its apparent theme it feels like it really has no theme. I miss the old version a lot and got a kick out of its corniness and the idea of being a crash test dummy.

We still ride it, because there's not a ton to ride in Epcot but I always feel resigned when we do.

I personally prefer the new version. It is a "sim-track" and you are in a computer program where the variables you placed in the design phase are tested. It's just a projection of your car. It's like TRON. Then again, I LOVE TRON.

I like the old and the new and feel like they could have merged them into something awesome. Like update the graphics and stuff but keep the two test people and all the old tests but make them look more high tech. It'd still have the fun cheesy tone but also have that techie updated look...
