I thought you could bring a power strip on board??

What would typically overload the circuit? For example: our usual collection of electronics would be two iPhones, one netbook, 3 charging camera batteries

(You often wonder how we 'survived' without our electronics in the "old" days)

Recharging things is very low power. Using a blowdryer while your curling iron or flat iron is heating up and simultaneously powering a pc and a reading lamp or make-up mirror might push the limit.

They actually said they kept our luggage because they came across the power strip on the security scan. They said you must have forgotten it was there, please don't use it. Dh thought we messed up on the rules so he said that we wouldn't use it (which we didn't really need it for such a short cruise anyways)

On another note, my moms suitcase was held as well because she had a small portable fan in there. They told her it was ok for her to use her fan. So why hold the luggage if it's okay to use it?

All I can think of is that this was on the 2 night cruise when there were a lot of new crew members on board and they didn't know all the rules on whats allowed and what isn't so they kept the bags.

No portable DVD...what should I do with one I bring with me, so kids can watch it on the plane? And under toys it says no toys resembling weapons...swords...etc. I saw tons of plastic swords on pictures posted here for Pirate Night.....

Buy them on the ship. They sell all kind of pirate gear in the stores. Just be sure whatever swords and such you purchase will fit in checked luggage at the airport.

Just leave your DVD player in your luggage to keep it out of sight.
