We bought 210 Beach Club points and our first trip is for this October in a 1 bedroom at Saratoga. I know after staying in a 1 bedroom we will not want to stay in a studio. So I guess that means we will need to add on more points! Now I just need to talk my husband into it.

Not necessarily - we just stayed in a beautiful 2 bedroom and now I'm even more convinced that I'd rather be in a studio for longer than waste all those those points on a big unit I don't use! :rotfl:

I agree. I like the space, W/D, kitchen, etc even when it is just DW and I. You could always break up your stay and have a few days in a studio and a few in a 1BR or change the timing of your vacations to a lower point time frame. Also, think about paying cash for studios on weekends and then 1BR DVC on the week days. In the end, we bought more points! ;)

Thats true. We wanted to stay in a studio, but they were all booked. So our only option was the one bedroom.

I avoid studios whenever possible...gotta have my washer/dryer! We started in 2 Bedrooms so downsizing is hard for us.

Sounds like an add-on-itis has hit you too!

Yup. We got bitten by that bug, too.

We bought our "starter" package at BCV (150 pts.) in 2002. Since we bought late in the year, we ended up combining '02 pts. and '03 for our first DVC trip, in July '03. We stayed two weeks in a studio and loved it -- except, of course, for the studio. Not that it wasn't lovely. It was. But two weeks in one (relatively) small room without a kitchen or washing machine was a wee bit much.

A couple years later, we took the plunge and bought an add on, (via the Timeshare Store... ) and got 150 pts. at BWV. Now we're happy campers. We do two weeks a year in a 1 BR :lovestruc :cloud9:

Just like you can't be too handsome, you can't have too many points.

I think about getting more points so I can enjoy more non-WDW trips such as the DCL and Adventures by Disney but I really have plenty for me...I'm just greedy::yes::

I usually stay in a studio but have splurged occasionally on a 1 and 2BR villa. If I'm traveling with more than 2 people, I try to stay away from a studio (a bit too claustrophobic). All of the airline luggage restrictions have made me rethink my "no laundry on vacation" rule.

Oh, my. Going from a studio to a 1 BR is what bit the add-on bug for us!

I think the difference between a studio and 1 BR is much bigger than the difference between a 1 BR and a 2 BR.

Heck the W/D alone means we can pack less (and with many of the airlines increasing their check in fee for luggage, maybe the add-on points pay for themselves!). And the extra space! And the full kitchen! And the jacuzzi tub! And the King Bed! OK, I'll stop.

Anyways, going from a studio to a 1BR is a huge step up and definitely prompted us to double our points (yikes!). My DW and I love having the King Bed and our DD sleeps on the pull out.

Heck, I go down to WDW once a year for a vacation with my DD (now 8) and I'm thinking about moving from a studio to a 1BR next year because of the above reasons.

OK, none of my business,... buy why spend the extra premium for BC when you first stay is going to be SSR?

I'm hoping once we add-on at VGC I can get rid of the disease. Some say there is no cure, it never ends.

I've got to admit, we're spoiled. We have only stayed in 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom villas. To us, staying in a studio would be too much like just staying in a hotel room. We bought all our lovely points just so we would have the luxury of lots and lots of space!

Of course, there are only 2 of us (usually) but like I said, we're spoiled!

:lovestruc We love DVC!:lovestruc

I think having the washer and dryer is bigger thing with my wife, particularly since you don't have daily housekeeping and fresh towels. During our last trip we had 5 of us in a 2 BDR and the extra space was very nice to have. We never felt cramped, there was always a couch or bed available for naps making down time in the rooms much more relaxing. Being DVC owners those down times in the room are increasing every trip so the room is more important than it once was. It used to be just the place we slept.

Having a family of five right now, we typically use a two bedroom. That is one of the reasons we bought AKV though, because the one bedrooms in Kidani will sleep five AND they will have a second bathroom.

The bad part is that with developer points, we have gotten a little spoiled about trips, so I'm guessing it won't be too long and we will be considering adding on some points also.

staying in a studio after staying in a one or 2 bedroom is like staying on the DCL in a cabin without a veranda...we were warned that after staying in a bedroom or having a veranda there would be no going back to anything but...and they were right...

Only bedrooms and verandas for us...we have been bitten:rotfl:
