I love seeing everyone's opinions. I see those who don't like BCV themes, which I love. And those that love AKV which lacks appeal to me. But everyone loves DVC and there is something for all of us and for all of our moods. I never thought of the decor @ BLT as a selling point for me, but honestly, it could have been striped with duct tape and still I would still have bought sight unseen!

I think the outside design is less than inspiring.
I was there in Jan. They could have done better. I think Walt would have pushed them harder to achieve something special-er. Something that stands out as a landmark or at least a benchmark (or maybe just some graffiti?)
Not as nice as Buckhead area of Atlanta for example -- some of those bldgs are cool

Inside exceeds my expectations.
The pictures on the internet got a WOW from me.

I don't remember if someone here said it, or if my guide did, things are running together...

Anyway, Disney didn't want the exterior of the tower to overshadow the Contemporary.

I'm sorry did I miss something in the name of the hotel that would make one look for a "fill in the blank" theme? It is the Contemporary!!! Contemporary = modern

Actually if you want to get technical its call Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort...its name in itself is not Contemporary.

I like the theming myself. Reminds me of coming to WDW back in the early 1980's and how futuristic things looked. That was back when we actually looked forward to the future - remember that? I loved the Jetsons and the decor kind of reminds me of that. If we didn't already have too many points, I'd think seriously about doing an addon at BLT. What I don't understand is why did OP start a thread like this? What did he hope to achieve? I guess he just wanted to let the world know his opinion. Now the world knows and is better for it, I guess.

As long as it's clean, and not shabby looking--- I really don't care about the furniture. Maybe that's weird, but it's not my home. I don't really care if it doesn't represent my taste. The colors they chose don't really matter to me. There's a king size bed, The whirlpool tub is wonderful, the bathroom looks very nice, lovely view off the balcony. And there's that cool walkway to the monorail! The pool area looks like it's going to be lots of fun for my kids!! I'm good to go!

Well, that would be interesting. I didn't see that "look" in any of the photos I've seen and I doubt it would be feasible to put something like that in a DVC unit. But I did have a friend with a cabin cruiser, he lived in Newport Beach and he'd sometimes take Mom & I to Catalina Island for the weekends when I was young, and the table did fold down to make a bed. Practical on a boat, but not a good idea in a high usage resort unit.

I am so with you on this. Clean, in good condition, THOSE are things that matter to me in a resort. First off, it's vacation.....you'll be there a couple days or more. Secondly, why would one need a hotel room to be represenatative of their style? I happen to love the rooms at GF and Poly for vacation. I would NEVER decorate my house like that though. Oh well. I just don't get the outrage over decor. Dirty room, broken things, bugs, I get the complaints about that, but decor?

I really like the Kitchen area and love the blue coloring, the rooms just look really small and crowded to me in the photos.

I need a full size night stand for all my junk and a drawer and I just don't see that in the photos of the studios.

The studios do looked cramped in the photos, I don't think I'd be comfortable in a studio, especially having the sleeper sofa open. For a couple, though, they'd probably be OK.

I think that the styling is so cool (just like the Contemporary). I feel like I would be living with the Jetsons. Imagine if they had a bunch of "Rosie" robots cleaning the rooms instead of mousekeeping! How much fun would that be! (Meet George Jetson, Jane his wife.....)

It so ties in with the FutureWorld Theme of how we thought the future was going to look back in the 70s.

Very inventive if you ask me.

I like the fact that they've shaken things up a bit, rather than follow the same old format. The different layout for the kitchenette/wash basins has allowed them to fit more into that area (I particularly like the pull-out floor to ceiling shelving). And have you seen the size of the balcony? I acknowledge that some interior space seems to have been sacrificed to allow for that, but it almost looks as though the room flows into the balcony.

You know what I love about disney the most? Its the way you feel so immersed in the area, wheter you are in the park or a resort. I rember my foirst on site stay at Pop Century - and thought this was the mjost amazing time ever - and it just keeps getting fricking better. Paradise pier was spectaular - and then came SSR - awesome - and then Old Key west - never been so relaxed in all my life. The floridian feels just like my stay out at coranado in San Deigo. When I am at the polonisian - I feel like I am in Hawaii.

So now.... I just purschased points Monday night at the contemprary. I think the idea of being immursed in the 70's will have a similar feel to eating dinner at the prime time cafe - just makes you feel like a part of the action.

Someday I hope the neysayers can just relax and enjoy what this really is - a chance to feel something new, different and enjoyable. If not, well, I guess the travelodge at the main gate is still available for $59 a night and its furnature is more of a modern modular furature feel.

So Anyone else buying into Contemp?

I like the comment someone said about staying home if you only want that decor.
I'd never in a million years decorate my house like any of the DVC's, but I love to stay in them for a short time. I think BLT is whimsical and fun. Again, wouldn't want it in my home, but great for a vacation.

It's not my taste in decor, but then neither is AKV. With that said, I still like being on the Savannah from time to time and will hopefully get to experience the great views from BLT at some point. The Grand Villas experience up there must be spectacular.

Still love and prefer OKW, but it never hurts to add a little variety!
