I think the BLT rooms are boderline UGLY or at least 1970's cheesey

I like the theming myself. Reminds me of coming to WDW back in the early 1980's and how futuristic things looked. That was back when we actually looked forward to the future - remember that? I loved the Jetsons and the decor kind of reminds me of that. If we didn't already have too many points, I'd think seriously about doing an addon at BLT. What I don't understand is why did OP start a thread like this? What did he hope to achieve? I guess he just wanted to let the world know his opinion. Now the world knows and is better for it, I guess.

That is one of the reasons that DW really loves Future World at Epcot. That whole retro-futuristic vibe. She also would love to be able to be one of the Jetsons. And, you have no idea, how badly she would love to have Rosie helping out with the housework.
We TOTALLY love BLT!

Anyone else find the irony in someone from jersey describing someplace else as ugly/cheesy?

:rolleyes1

sorry....must...not....feed.....trolls....

Wow... a rather trollish thing to say from someone who doesn't want to feed the trolls. It seems that sometimes people would be better off not saying anything rather than generalizing (and so stereotypically so) an entire state and it's residents.

I find that the room decor fits in the theme and feel of the resort very nicely. Not everyone will likes that theme (obviously), but the rooms do work well in that theme. I like that we as DVC owners have choices and can go to resorts that have roughly the same amenities and enjoy different types of experiences.

It's grown on me, and I love the blue color on some of the walls.

Having seen the AKV models after seeing lots of photos of them on the internet - I've never seen any photos that really give them justice. In person, I think they are beautiful.

So, I don't think the decor is ugly, but fitting and I'm reserving judgement on how much I like them until I see for myself :)

I need to get in at seven mos so I don't mind at all that there are others of different opinion than mine! Might up my chances :thumbsup2

I'm liking the decor more and more each day. I absolutely LOVE the artwork, it Screams "Im the DVC at the Contemporary" to me. I also love the design of the kitchen, the bathroom, bedroom and balcony!:goodvibes

The only thing left I really don't like are the bar stools. And while I think it would be a blast to have Alice serve me some flapjacks one morning, it is never going to happen.:rotfl:

So I figure our first stay I will get up bright and early, make some pop-tarts and start calling Greg, Marcia, Jan, Peter, Bobby & Cindy and see what reaction I get:lmao: Sadly, there will not be enough bar stools to accommodate, but hey, it would be fun:rotfl2:

Did I say lately that I LOVE BLT, and I couldn't be happier that its FINALLY here:cloud9:  :cloud9:  :cloud9:

BTW! Has anybody noticed that the OP has not replied to all the positive things being said on their post. I guess they just wanted to start a fire and see how big it got, LOL!:rotfl:

I never thought of the decor @ BLT as a selling point for me, but honestly, it could have been striped with duct tape and still I would still have bought sight unseen! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

:rotfl: :rotfl2: That's so funny!! That's exactly how I felt about it!!! Although, I actually think it looks pretty cool. To each his own, huh? :goodvibes

Dining table area does look a little like one I saw in a travel trailer that converted to a bed

103_1165.jpg

bedside table in studio does have a drawer and room for a few things on top.
There is a shelf near the entry door for keys, glasses, etc.

The room actually seemed spacious for a studio -

The blue is not as bright as my pictures indicate - it is actually much more subdued. I told the guide I was with that I had come prepared to hate the colors and decor and actually really like them. It is not my favorite theme but once in the rooms decided I could definitely enjoy a stay there. I really love the kitchenette area in the studio.

I think the BLT rooms are boderline UGLY or at least 1970's cheesey, i have seen nicer furniture at the curb on Sunday nights

So, what exactly do you tell a friend when asked if these jeans make my rear look fat?

I don't remember if someone here said it, or if my guide did, things are running together...

Anyway, Disney didn't want the exterior of the tower to overshadow the Contemporary.

BLT's room furnishings aren't for me either... I grew up in a house with orange curtains and green vinyl chairs and it stayed that way for 25 years :scared:

BUT... and your statement brings to thought:

The Contemporary Resort, as many know, was styled from Walt Disney's own designs for the living space in EPCOT (before it was realized that the whole concept was near impossible.) CR is one of the only true Walt Disney - designed resorts. I think the BLT design team tried to keep in with Walt's original designs for those living quarters including decor... modernizing it for the times of course. If we step back & can embrace Tomorrowland not as representing 'tomorrow' but as Disney's dream of it, then we can also embrace BLT's design in the same manner.

Well it took me forever to figure out that the picture above the bed is Mickey Mouse..for some reason I thought it was like some sideways smiley face with it's toungue sticking out lol. When I showed Tim the rooms I was like I don't get the picture..he was like it's mickey. That was when the lightbulb came on lol.

This has nothing to do with anything, just thought I would point that out lol.

About the decor...not my taste but I still would love to stay there some time.

Not to my taste - and I like modern. But I'm not sure Disney has ever decorated a hotel room in a way I think is attractive - VWL comes closest.

For some people decor is important. For others, it isn't.

Between the point value and the decor, we won't be trying BLT - location is nice, and the MK views will be spectacular, but I'm not spending much time looking out my window at WDW either.

WOW!! That's Mickey?!?! I didn't see that. It took me a good 20 seconds to see it after you mentioned it too! Thanks for the hint. Apparently I needed it.

Oh and those yellow bar stools really have to go. Maybe if they just take the backs off them.... :headache:

I'm torn between wanting to purchase for the views, location, MF, length of contract (and resale value), BUT I'm just not loving it.

The BLT decor is definitely growing on me. I'm one of those people that pretty much likes any style as long as it is well done. It helps to know that the blue is not as loud as it appears.

I am a bit disturbed by the location of the bathroom vanity in the studios. It seems to be across from the kitchenette. It just seems like some of the stuff that we do at the bathroom sink is not at all compatible with food preparation.

Do I really want to make a sandwich where I washed up from the toilet, brushed my teeth, or combed my hair??? Yuck!

I REALLY hope the imagineers figures this out before its too late to change it. (It may be already.)

I definitely do not think the rooms are ugly, but I do have concerns about the size of the studios. I do like my space.

In this photo of SSR you have a very large nightstand with drawer and storage underneath, and room between the sofa and curtains for a lamp.

I am just not seeing that in the photos of the BLT, as show in this one.

There is no room between the sofa and the window, with the curtain being right on top of the sofa bed and I still see no drawer space in the nightstand.

If there is a different photo showing me more room between the bed, the wall and the sofa and window, please share.
