I think the BLT rooms are boderline UGLY or at least 1970's cheesey, i have seen nicer furniture at the curb on Sunday nights

Then the solution would simply be not to stay there, and don't purchase there. I actually like most of the furnishings, though the wood cabinetry looks a little too dark..but it may just be the photos I've seen.

I'm not going to purchase there, I have enough OKW points to fill our vacation needs. But I may try to stay there occasionally, but OKW will always be my favorite.

I was gonna say something like that but once I re-read what I had written, it wasn't quite so nice of a read so I thought better of it and started over. :rotfl2:

I think it is great that DVC offers us all so many choices. There is a location to meet the personal preferences of almost anyone. I love the condo style of OKW, while others love the "in the middle of the action" feeling of BWV. The Contemporary was always my favorite non-DVC resort. Now with the BLT I have the option of occasionally trying for a DVC stay at 7 months.

The treehouses will be another great DVC additon, but I'll bet they will be next to impossible to book 7 months out.

I believe the word you are looking for is retro. And yeah, it's not my taste and yeah, I posted about it when they first came out, last week including amending my opinion a bit after getting better views.

The point being, you are a bit late to the party and there are numerous "BLT is ugly threads."

Like a previous poster noted, it's great that we have so many choices. Something for everyone.:yay:

I'm totally surprised by my reaction...
I actually like the decor. I never would have guessed it in a million years. It just looks "Disney-esque" to me.

I still don't care much for the exterior building itself, but I must admit the view is awesome.

You know, even though I never really cared for the CR, something about it just screams Disney. :smokin:

I bought sight unseen. We didn't even have pics posted to the best of my knowledge when I purchased.

I wasn't impressed with the AK pics I saw when I got back on the forum in April either. I bought in then based on what I saw in real life (obviously, the models) while I was there. I saw the models and purchased and THEN got back here (that's when I discovered "here") and found pics is what I'm trying to say.

Everything tends to look better in person. I actually like the pics I've seen. I think I'll like the rooms even better. I better! :rotfl2:

If I wanted home decor, I'd stay at home.

When you folks stay ("you folks" being the ones insistent on complaining about the decor at BLT) at a hotel (I'm assuming here that at least some of you maybe have), do you go back downstairs and demand a refund if you don't like the decor or do you ask to see the rooms before you check-in? It's bound to be one or the other. :confused3

I am not a fan of it it either. It reminds me of a Marriot or Intercontinental. Sure, its nice and modern, but boring with lack of Disney to it (besides the obvious artwork). I don't see the theme besides modern.

But as others have said, there is a location/place for everyone. I also don't care for Beach Club Villas, the whole nautical theme is nauseating to me (although I love the water). On the flip side I love Animal Kingdom (I guess that's a given) or even non DVC the Polynesian. The resorts just felt themed and immersive with the whole Disney experience.

Actually before I even book a hotel, I look for photos of the common space and rooms online. Places like tripadvisor.com are great resources for this type of information.

It IS ugly. Have you ever stayed at the Contemporary? It's ugly too. That styling was all the rage when the Contemporary was built back in 1971.

My mother loved modern design, and we have some really ugly furniture in storage, including a couple of chairs that literally look like they could be on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. Plus we had a 10-foot low, white sofa, kinda life Elvis. Yikes!

Perhaps in reaction to my upbringing, I've tried to furnish my home with lots of semi-antique furniture. My wife is very happy with this. But I would be very happy with the contemporary style for a vacation.

OK, that's just cool :rotfl2:

But I'm one that likes that modernistic styling.

IM (not so) HO
I think the outside design is less than inspiring.
I was there in Jan. They could have done better. I think Walt would have pushed them harder to achieve something special-er. Something that stands out as a landmark or at least a benchmark (or maybe just some graffiti?)
Not as nice as Buckhead area of Atlanta for example -- some of those bldgs are cool

Inside exceeds my expectations.
The pictures on the internet got a WOW from me.

Nice bit of trolling by the OP. :stir: Looks like a lot of bites on it too.

MG...this is almost exactly the view I expressed on the Groupies thread. I think the decor is very appropriate to the resort. :thumbsup2
