I think I'm in love...

Well, the Canon 50mm 1.4 and Sigma 18-125mm that I ordered last week for my XT came in yesterday .

I didn't have much time to play around last night, but from the several test shots I took... I LOVE the 50mm! To be able to set it at f/2 and still be able to hand hold the camera... heaven . Though it's my first prime lens... and I kept turning the focus ring... thinking it would zoom, lol. It's gonna take me a bit to remember to zoom with my feet!

I didn't get to try out the Sigma too much - the kids were getting ready for bed. I have one question for those who have this lens - is it me or is the AF loud? Kinda whiney? This is my first Sigma lens, the others I have are Canon's, so I was wondering if all Sigmas focus loudly? (Well, louder than the kit lens, lol).

And to top it off... the weather is nice, and it'll still be light out when I get home from work today so I'll be able to play with my new toys! Life is good.

LOL, no more lenses for me. I've got 4 now, and my bag is full. I'll just keep telling myself "there's no room in the bag... you can't get any more... there's just no room."

Kelly, you have the 18-125, right? Do you notice that it's louder than the Canon's when focusing? This is my first Sigma lens, and I'm not sure if it's just a noisy lens or if there's something wrong (I don't think so... but the worrier in me has to ask).

Yes, it is louder. This is normal. I can't take a pic of my neighbour's dog because for some reason the noise scares her. So I have to use my 70-200 f/2.8 IS (yes, it's an L lens and I've sold my soul for that)

Thanks for the comments about the Sigma. Even my 3yo whipped his head around when I focused on him, lol, and said "wow... that's a noisy one."

Hay for new toys!

I can't wait until my stuff gets here! My rebel and lens should be here tomorrow! The tripod should be here on Thursday. I also ordered Understanding Exposure from Amazon - that should be here next week. I hope the weather is nice this weekend!

Now I just need to find a cool little camera backpack that will hold all this stuff on Rock-N-Roll Rollercoaster!!!

I got the Sigma 18-125 last week, and it is the noisiest lens I have ever heard. Aside from that, I'm very pleased with it so far, although I have only shot a few pics around the house with it. I hope to take a picture-taking trip someplace with it soon to give it a real workout.
