Temporarily Suspended....

Interesting - we sometimes stay at other Orlando timeshares, so can you please provide examples of those sister resorts in Orlando that allow pool hopping? It would be useful to us!
I can think of one the Holiday inn club at orange lake resorts. They have a handfull of resorts all located next to each other like a small village

My in-laws own a different timeshare program. They have two resorts in Orlando, one near WDW and the other near Universal. They can use the amenities of either resort while in town. Likewise at the beach, they usually stay at a resort farther away from the ocean because the rooms are larger, it's quieter, etc., but when they want to go to the beach they can park at an oceanside resort and use the pools, showers, etc.

Can you imagine all of the VGF people going over to the Poly pools…. they’d riot!
Actually...
We walked from Poly to VGF on our last trip just to see the new tower and get a feel for the place - might stay there in the future. We had no problem walking into the VGF pool area and would seriously consider doing that over enduring the crowd in the main Poly pool. Both the new tower pool and VGF pool were vacant by comparison. Can't see anyone caring if you used either one. We were staying at BLT FWIW, and only walked through - did not actually use either pool.

At particularly busy times of the year like major holidays they have cast members at each pool entrance checking to make sure guests are actually staying at the resort. The rest of the year enforcement is random, they have been known to come around and check room keys/magic bands but not terribly often.

And I can honestly say that I have never had this happen in my 15+ years of DVC ownership having stayed most everywhere. I admit I've never even used the pool at BWV or BCV, though I have stayed at both.

To me, it's the forgiveness v. permission thing. I don't know where you can hop and can't hop, or at least I don't remember. I don't want to know, and I don't want to remember. I don't remember that we've ever done it, but I wouldn't have a second thought if we decided on a whim that we wanted to.

You are allowed to use the pool on your check-out day until whenever it is you have to leave for the airport (we did this at the clown pool). You don't have a room key during this period. I could see this being an issue at Stormalong Bay and nowhere else.

I mean, if you are being a jerk then yes, I could see a CM stepping in and insisting on a room key, but otherwise, no harm no foul. Don't be a jerk - problem solved.

This isn't a motel on 192, you don't get a metal key. You get a Key to the World Card (or they activate your magic band at check-in) that you don't have to surrender it upon check-out. They can scan the KTTW and see that you are a guest of the resort that day, even though you already checked out from your room earlier that day.

You are correct that they do enforce pool privileges at Stomalong Bay year-round. At other resorts, only during busy times and randomly throughout the year otherwise.

While it's probably true that if you aren't being a jerk nobody will care or notice, but if they are enforcing pool privileges while you're there you won't even be able to get into the pool area. There are cast members at each gate checking to make sure everyone is a guest of the resort. I was at Kidani over Labor Day and they locked the gate near the gym during this time, they only allowed guests to enter the pool area near the pool bar so they'd only need to man one gate.

I mean it's pretty simple, you can't pool hop anywhere on Disney property - at least if you want to follow the rules of the resorts. Not even the value and moderate resorts allow it. But more than likely, you will be fine if you want to as long as you don't try to go to Stormalong Bay unless you're staying at Yacht or Beach. Though some of the resorts, notably Riviera, have locked gates that require a magic band to scan no matter the time of year.

I hope it doesn't come back. My Treehouse Villa pool already has to contend with all the people from the SSR main resort! If the other resort people start busing in...well, that's just too many people.
But if some of the current guests at SSR go visit another pool, then yours would be less busy.
If for each pool the people that pool-hop out are similar to those that pool-hop in, it's in balance.
Since poolhopping included pools at the moderates, some of which are really cool like at CBR, it's even possible the balance could have been negative and relieved some crowding from the deluxes.
The reality probably was that it was used so infrequently to not make any noticeable difference whatsoever.

Maybe, my post was kind of tongue in cheek though anyway. Nobody pool hops to the Treehouse pool, it's too far away from everything, and it's the size of a postage stamp lol. We had a treehouse next to it and we were usually about the only people there.

now I know what to request for my next THV stay.... the room with the private pool!
