I think I may be having little Gallbladder attacks

Hmm :scratchin Several times in the past weeks I have experiences a colicky type pain just under my right ribs. It's usually brief, the longest being 30 min, and always radiates immediately straight through to my back. Last year I had similar pain and had an ultrasound, but nothing showed up. I mentioned to my doctor that sometimes just twisting around to look over my rt shoulder will induce it--she said it's probably muscles between the ribs. I'm not sure. I've had this pain for a few minutes every day.

I'd know what to do if the symptoms were dramatic, but they're no. When there's no pain, there's none. When the pain is present, I can barely breathe. The only thing that helps is to stretch out my right side, but bending a little to the left, and even that does't always help. So far I have not had to take any meds for this, so I hate to go to the doctor about it.

GB buddies, what do you think? :confused3

Hard to tell....Mine is out...my 15yodd needs her's out.

My symptoms were a constant dull ache and nauseousness. How is your diet? Are you eating alot of fatty foods?
It can also be intestional or your pancreas. Pay attention to diet and your reactions to foods.

Honestly, it really sounds muscular to me. But the GB is not my area of expertise thankfully (I am a practicing hypochondriac which makes me VERY knowledgeable :teeth: ). Anyway, I have a lot of, ahem, digestive issues and I go through spells where I will get really sharp pains in various places. For instance, for the last 3 days I've been getting a sharp, stabbing pain on my left side right around where the stomach is. I *think* it's intestinal.

With the GB, I don't think you would get changes based on how you are turning or moving.

Well, you could be having gallbladder attacks...hard to say. I can remember the first time I experienced this kind of pain. I thought I might be having something similar to a mild heart attack. My pain was as you described - under my right rib cage and it lasted a few hours. I had an ultrasound but nothing showed up. About 9 months later, I had another attack and this time the pain lasted several hours. I had another ultrasound and this time gallstones showed up. I have since had my gallbladder removed and have never had any problems since. :thumbsup2

Good luck to you! You may want to eat a lower fat diet for a while and see if that helps. If you should have more problems, don't hesitate to go back to your doctor.

Thanks, Christine. :rotfl: I'm not a doctor either, I just play one on the DIS.
No nausea, no constant pain. My diet is not too bad--very little fried food, very little processed. Mostly fresh food, low on meat, high on veggies. I have IBS but this pain is different. Hmmm, 'tis a puzzlement...

I've been having gallbladder problems for about 2 years now. Doesn't always matter what I eat bothers me most when I overeat. I had an ultrasound and it showed nothing. Had a HIDA scan and that was fine. Like I said I'm going on 2 years now and lately its getting worse. As soon as the wedding is done I'm heading back to the Drs.
All they can figure right now is a have a spastic duct where the gallbladder empties (or something like that).
More than likely the next time I have a real bad one I'll go to the ER because that's what they keep telling me to do.
Have you had a HIDA scan? That measures how your gallbladder functions.
Good luck I know how frustrating it can be!

I have digestive issues as well. My doctor wanted to do a CT scan and colonoscopy. In the meantime, he suggested I try Prilosec. I've been taking 4 Tagamets a day for a looong time. Trust me, Prilosec works. No more tummy problems since then!

I also take Clidinium caps for "spastic colon".

You may want to try that. Good luck!

I have a trick to try out the gallbladder theory. Eat some broccoli or other green veggie. If the pains start soon after, then it is definitely your gallbladder. Mine flipped out after I ate some Brussels Sprouts.
