I think I got a deal today on AG stuff...

I went to the consignment shop today to drop off some stuff and I got there @ 9:30 after I dropped DD off at school. The lady was bringing stuff outside to put on the sidewalk but said they weren't opening til 10. And then....I saw it...Nellie in the window (and 2 Marisols and the Asian GoTY, I cannot think of her name). Ugh, my weakness. I asked her if it was possible if she could hold the doll for me, she said she could. I went to the bank, took out some cash and went back and she also had Kits Roll Top desk, on my DD's wish list for Christmas. I got both for $90. I think thats pretty good considering Nellie is going for over $160 on ebay.

So I put them both away for Christmas, my aunt said she would buy Nellie off of me to give to DD for Christmas. But they also had tons of AG clothes there. I rarely find AG things at my consignment shops so I felt like I hit the jack pot.

but, I didn't get to drop off the items at the shop (my MAIN purpose for going there) b/c the owner wasn't in it lol. So maybe I will be going back tomorrow and picking up some things ;)

Congrats on the find! :goodvibes

I would love to find some stuff for American girl like that. I have 2 DD that are into American Girl, and unless I want to take out a 2nd mortgage, I better be careful! :rotfl:

I know, this AG stuff is a really bad addiction.
.....it comes in 2nd to my Disney addiction.

That qualifies as a super find in my book. Congrats on your goodies! :cool1:

If I ran into a significant AG booty at the consignment shop while dropping off DD9's clothes for resale, I suspect we'd be trading clothes with the doll becoming the better dressed of the two. Sadly - or maybe thankfully - it doesn't happen often enough around here to be an issue... :rolleyes1

The asisan-american GOTY is Jess and has her own fan base on the secondary market. Marisol was quite pricey on ebay too but her ebay prices seem to be coming down. I suspect it's b/c AG's introduced two similar JLY's with differing hairstyles... either that, or she just took a major hit during the summer slump and we'll see an appropiate increase over the next few months. :confused3

LOL - ITA! Better be careful saying that if you're an AGPlaythings member though. Apparently they didn't take kindly to me making jokes about AG being an addiction and needing a 12-step program a few weeks back.

They don't like my kind over there and banned me earlier this week for standing up to the resident bullies who had, yet again, hijacked a thread to rail at the OP for her blatantly insensitive use of first the word "trained"... and then to beat a dead horse - the word "husband". One thing's for sure, I won't miss it and liken it to being evicted from a rat-infested tenement for pointing out the cockroaches crawling across the table to the neighbors.:rolleyes1

Ah yes, Jess, I was thinking June, but thats Little Einstiens lol.
I even am sitting here contemplating if i should go back and buy the clothes and sell them on ebay (they were ranging between $8-10 and many were complete) but what would just be plain our wrong...right? lol

haha, I actually lurk on those boards often, I think I have something like 12 posts in a year, and they were mostly related to cleaning up a Sam doll I found (how to) and when Kit's typewriter was on hiatus some members pointed me in the right direction. But I do recall saying to myself "I have to be careful what I say on here" :rotfl:
I remember one person was flipping b/c people were using abbreviations (b/c, lol, etc.) and CONSTANTLY was pointing it out, made a whole thread based on other people's abbreviations and would joke about it....I was like...jeesh lol.

Ohh... uh... hmmmm... of course it would... the proper thing is to run right back there and grab everything good then charge us all a finders fee...:lmao:

Ooooh I wish I found things like that! GREAT job! I'd LOVE to find a Marisol for my niece for Christmas....

If you go back and find any more dolls buy them, put them on ebay, and PLEASE let me know! There is nothing wrong about it!
Ditto on the clothes!

They can be a catty bunch sometimes but it's usually all in good fun with no harm intended. A few, who seem to be favorites of the mods, are downright vicious though - intent on intimidating and denegrating others. In my experience, it doesn't take much for certain AGPT bullies to criticize even the most innocent of remarks if it allows them to jump back on their soapboxes.

Judging by the massive amount of supportive emails & PMs I received this week from other AGPT members, the mods there have no problem banning people without warning for even the smallest perceived slight. I've been told by some that I am now in very good company and believe it...:thumbsup2

I just bought the American Girl Irish Dance Costume -- brand-new in the box -- for $10 today at a flea market. The grandma bought it for her granddaughter, who didn't have an AG doll. It's too cute!

Anyway, I should have checked the internet before opening it. Amazon has it for $80 - $100; less on ebay. But, I'm trying expand our doll clothing.

I'm going to try to check flea markets for this things more. Last week, I got an almost new Bitty Baby for $2.

I saw an AG once at a thrift shop here and she was $90 (had a newer marking on the neck and she was in bad shape!). Marisol is absolutely beautiful and probably my favorite! Jess is pretty too. DD no longer has an interest in dolls since she is 14, but still has all 12 of them in the spare room sitting on their sofas and chairs.

That's a beautiful outfit! We still need the purple one but have both the green irish dance dresses. DD9 has those on Molly & Emily right now standing posed on the stage in the guest room at my mom's house.

We were selling some of DH's tools from work and excess AG stuff last Saturday at an annual town flea market. DH & DD21 got there before me to set up and called to say not to get my hopes up b/c a lady was directly across from us selling AG too... I was thinking "geez, what are the odds" b/c it's so rare to find anything AG at a flea market and here this lady has literally boxes of it right across from our boxes of it.

DH sent DD21 over to check it out and she came back with a Nellie, Lindsey, and Kirsten for $50 each... and Kirsten's trunk for $25! We were down $175 and hadn't even begun yet. Needless to say, we hardly sold anything AG until about 10 when all her things were gone, then business finally picked up nicely for us. In the meantime though, I watched in astonishment as people walked by and picked up her kailey - who was in great shape except her braids were out - then put her down and moved on. Kailey was one of the very last things sold... for a mere $40. Gosh, it was killing me not to go give her all my $$ but we were already over-budget for the day. :guilty:

There are some great deals out there at yard sales and flea markets. The problem is, it's so hit or miss b/c they're not advertised. Keep your eyes open though and you're sure to find something good...:thumbsup2

:scared1: Really? I adore Kailey, love her little highlights, she does pretty well on ebay too, keeping my eye out for her @ consignment shops.

I agree with yard sales, so hard to tell what they will/wont have. We used to have a HUGE flea market here once a year at a race track, they don't have it anymore, but I bet they used to have AG stuff argh!

We have molly's birthday cake here, the 1st one, I won it on ebay, and after DD played with it for a few months the "icing" cracked. I could hot glue gun the outer part of the icing, but not the part that says "Happy Birthday Molly", because its just so delicate. I just don't know what to do with it. Its a very cute set.

I bought the Bitty Baby blonde twins at a rummage sale over the summer for my granddaughter for $15. I also bought a larger rubbermaid bin full of build a bear clothes all complete outfits including panties, shoes and wigs for $20, I put everything away for Christmas.
