I think I did this the right Way???

Our Home Resort is VWL. We want a GV at OKW 9/03 and we are concerned that if we wait until the 7 month window it will not be available.

I think I remember reading on this board that I might be able to swap points with someone who's home resort is OKW.

I'm not exactly sure how to accomplish this. I posted a thread on the Rent/ Trade board, but I'm not sure this is the right way to achieve our goal.

Please HELP.

I had the exact same scenario.

Earlier this year, I booked a GV at OKW for a friend of mine who has her points at VWL.

Our plan was, as soon as her Aug, 2002 points became available, she would transfer those points to my account.

Please refer to my post concerning "Transferring Points - Arrgghh!"

If I had to do it again, I would have made the reservation for her - as I did - but then just had her make reservations for me to offset the difference, instead of trading them.

Of course - it may be difficult to come out "exactly" even, but those few points could be transferred without too much incident.

However, if you don't have a friend/family member who is a member, you may be forced to do a transfer. Like I said in my other post, please call MS <i>first</i>, and make sure you understand how the transfer is going to work for you...

One other option, I guess, would be to rent the points from a VWL member, then turn around and rent out the same number of points, yourself, to offset the $$ amount.

You're easiest option might be to rent points for an OKW GV stay then rent out your points. Option 2 would be to have an arrangement with one or more people to make each others reservations without transferring the points. Option 3 would be to transfer points between 2 or more parties. One potential problem is that for a GV for 5 days Sunday to Friday, you're looking at around 250 points, more for weekends or Premier time. Of course you must find those that have CURRENT points (banked and borrowed can't be transfered) and are interested. You'll also need to do this right at 11 month window to ensure success and maybe even day by day. That's a lot of coordination.
