We took are first trip to wdw in May. I am obesse now with going back. I feel like nothing will compare. We went to Cedar Point in Ohio yesterday and we had a good time. However I kept thinking this is nice but it's not disney.Anyone out there feel the same!

Of course! There is a Six Flags here in New England and its so boring to go to knowing that Disney is so much better! :goodvibes

It's true. I take my kids up to Storyland in NH and most of the time my kids are comparing rides to ones at Disney. The Bamboo Chutes isn't anything like Splash Mountain. They both know that the Cinderella they meet at Storyland is just 'watching over this castle' for the real Cinderella that's in Disney.

However we have these 'mini-parks' to tide us over until we get to go to the most wonderful place on earth. :bounce:

We went to Kings Island in June and also found ourselves comparing. It wasn't bad, just different. :goodvibes

We just went to six flags New England on Saturday. Not bad for a day trip, but just can't be compared to Disney. It is dirty, ridiculously expensive ($25 for one pizza that barely fed 2 adults and 2 kids) and they added a parade that is a total joke. I mean really, you can't put a zit faced 15 year old in a batman costume and expect the kids to be impressed. No offense to the kid, but doesn't Disney do Casting Calls to get people that actually look the part?

Waiting in line for Superman Ride of Steel all I could think of was how dirty the ground was and the steel around me. How much needed repainting, and how worn out the whole thing looked after only being a few years old. Oh well, I just have to wait for Disney next month :)

While Cedar Point is not Disney I agree, it's one of the better Amusement Parks I think. The problem is that Disney is really not an amusement park, it's a "theme" park. I think it's like comparing oranges and apples. You go to an amusement park for the rides etc., you go to Disney for the whole experience. JMHO.

I'm with you there. We actually hit Sea World after Disney and were very disappointed. We can't go to any other parks now without comparing

I totally agree! :thumbsup2 I love Cedar Point, but its my place for thrills. Nothing compares how your heart is thumping after coming off Top Thrill Dragster, but even still, its no Disney!! Disney just truly a whole nother world.

There’s a big difference between "Theme Parks" and "Amusement Parks". If you treat the park in respect to what they are, your pleasure with them will increase dramatically.

As far as Theme Parks go, try Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando if you haven't already. One of the best Theme Parks I've ever been to.

Hey at least you have Six Flags and Cedar Point. I'm about 6-8 hours away from a Six Flags (actually two - on in either direction). I might as well do Disney.

But I know what you mean. I've got my September trip planned and am already planning the one after that - two years later! MVMCP here we come :goodvibes

Regardless of the differences of a "theme park" or "amusement park" I still don't really enjoy amusement parks. Six Flags Great America was always dirty and the workers were rude, and Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is just downright boring. Plus for me, I am NOT a rollercoaster person...and that's all Six Flags parks seem to be anymore.

DH and I go to Carowinds in NC quite often, and just went to Kings Island a few weekends ago....it definately doesn't compare to Disney!!!!

Oh yea buddy..I cant even take the kids to Carowinds they also compare everything to WDW..There is no where else in the world like it in my opinion..

It is definetly a problem that no other vacation is as good as a Disney one. We tried DollyWood and it was a complete dissapointment. Although I think that it might have been on even if I had never been to Disney. I really want to try other things but It is hard thinking that It not be as good of a trip as a Disney one would have been and You could have just spent the $ going to disney. We are waiting for our kids to get a little bit older before we try parks with alot of thrill rides. We live In Montana so It is quite a trip to get to any Theme Park.

We do that all the time. This summer we have gone to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg Va and Hershey Park in Hershey Pa. We have fun at other amusement parks but they Don't compare. The food is outrategous for fast food and we compare it to Disney. My lunch at Busch Gardens cost $17 for a Salmon salad, water and corn on the cobb. I could have eaten at a sit down restaurant for that.

Definitely! We're going to Kennywood (Pittsburgh, PA) in a couple of weeks, and it will be hard not to compare it with Disney, since we were there in June! We will have a great time, though, since we're going with friends! :grouphug:

OH YEAH!! I DEFFINETELY FEEL THAT WAY. IT'S LIKE OTHER PLACES ARE NICE BUT NOTHING LIKE DISNEY. THAT'S WHY IT'S SO HARD HAVING TO LEAVE DISNEY. YOU GO OTHER PLACES AND IT'S LIKE HOW COULD YOU COMPARE. THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT "THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH" :wizard: :rotfl: :wizard:

I totally agree! 100% with you!

My dh doesn't understand the mickey obsession! He is down to the point of just doing a partial trip with me and our ds.

I just love it.

He is waiting for me to get it out of my system........................... :rotfl2:

Poor man he is going to be waiting a long time!

I feel like that too. We live in Cincinnati and have season passes to Kings Island. While it is nice, clean and the kids have fun it is no where close to the same. There are not many family oriented rides that all of us can go on together (DD 6 and DS2) like at Disney we could go on almost everything. And now they are under new management and won't let me bring juice boxes, light snacks or a bottle of water in. I did not know this and when we went last week they said they'd have to throw my small soft cooler away or I'd have to take it back to the car. I was so mad. I had to wait in line 15 minutes for a drink for my little guy. It used to be fairly pleasant for me before this policy but now just a hassle to have to buy drinks and snacks plus more then I want to spend on food. Could not even bring in his Cheerios. I did not have that problem at Disney. I brought in a few granola bars no problem there. I go to KI to give the kids something to do and DS loves Blues but I am not excited at all to go there.
