IF I can get a mod/or Deluxe for our Christmas trip. I know I will pay dearly for the AP pass and we will only go into the parks a total of 12 days ( we are stopping by for a BDAY weekend in August) but theh AP discount allows us the flesibility to arrive on 12/18 vs 12/17 ( DS finals) and we can do a split stayat the Dolphin which we have for 149 thru 12/22...so I have never had an AP before...I *think* I can make the ressie, then activate my pass later...in this case, it wil be activated in August, so just fine for a Dec trip, but I CAN make the ressie, right? I do not wish to cancellmy other one until I know or sure...also, AP room only rates are the 6 day cancellation window, right? Another plus as the FD package is 45...with 2 sets of elderly parents who have major health issues, we have to have flexibility.
Any advice form AP holders for an AP newbie? The one down side is if our December plans DO fall apart, now I have an AP which will go to waste since I will have activated it in August...unless I hold off, can I do that? Order it now, and then activate in Dec., and just OOP for our August weekend? I know I am paying $80-160( if doing 2 days) but may be for better peace of mind.
ETA: Just realized we can apply DS free 1 day BDAY admission to the AP TICKET, knocking roughly $75 off of that!
Thanks all!

If you order an AP now (before prices go up), you will get a voucher. You can activate it whenever you want - even if it is 5 years from now. :)

I just made a reservation with the AP discount for our Christmas trip, but we do not yet have our AP in hand because I'm upgrading my MYW ticket when we're down there in about 10 days. I just told her I wanted the AP rate, and she gave it to me. It was very simple.

yep, I am just torn between CSR AP rate or the Dolphin...but either way looks like I am better off cancelling FD, as we need to arrive the 18th or later now....also, when I called, CSR AP rates were not valid for Friday and Saturday 12/18 and 19 :sad1: so rack rate for those, that is where the Dolphin is coming out better..maybe a split stay is best...either way I am going to book CSR on the AP to have it...
