I know I've been on these boards forever, but I don't usually find myself in this situation.

I started a stupid thread on the Theme Park boards. I wasn't thinking at the time, because I never dreamed it would turn into such a nasty thread.

I'd like it closed. I changed the title of the thread asking the mods to close it. I PM a mod asking that it be closed and I emailed another mod. Nothing.

What am I doing wrong. I promise to be less controversial in the future!!!!

I wish I could help you. I did the same stupid thing today. Within minutes, I regretted posting it because no one got my sarcastic intent and all I got was lectured. I just keep praying it gets burried on page 2 and no one ressurrects it. For inquiring minds, it was the guess where terrorists are going to strike next with a picture of Cindy's Castle. I even went so far as to say "darn the lure of free dining" but still got lots of "go and live your life, don't let terrorism stop you, they've been saying this for years, WDW is as safe as anywhere, yadda, yadda, yadda."
It was just an ironic story DH read recently. I thought where else to post this news but on the Disboards. I assumed they would get that my "free dining" remark meant I wasn't shying away from my beloved Disney, but it wasn't taken that way. Oy!

Having said that, I'm now on my way to the theme parks board. Thanks a lot, I was going to go to bed.

I saw your thread when it started & thought "What a sweet thing for Disney to do". Then I can back a little later & WOW! It's amazing that's people first instincts aren't "That's great for the children & what special memories this will make for them". On our last trip, we were in line to see Mickey behind an hispanic family that didn't speak much english. But their adorable daughter could say "Mickey!" I don't think I have ever seen a child so excited to see her idol. (She was only 2 at the most)

I could tell you started the thread with good intentions. Some people just like to argue. Don't feel bad. I like your posts. Sbella

You didn't start anything...on the DISboards, pretty much anything can turn ugly, spiralling downward after the original post. I have learned that almost any thread that goes past 5 pages has turned ugly. I also don't think your thread is really the cause of debate -- rather it seemed to evolve into what people are seeing all over the country right now. A current pet peeve, you know?

Yah...anytime I want to start a thread, I stop to think if there is anyway possible that people will attack me. I started one a few weeks ago, and people did nothing but jump on me and lecture me the whole time. The stupid thread would go to page 2, then somebody else would post on it. Guess this won't help now, since the thread is so long, but I just started thanking people for their opinions and refused to argue back. Now I only start threads about non-controversial things....at least, that's what I aim for!
