Several of you warned me, but I didn't listen. It was absolutely the worse ride we have ever been on. My DS-7 said it was worse then Dinosaur (I'm not sure about that). I kept smelling that horrible smell the rest of the afternoon. :rolleyes:

Ugh! Sorry you endured that. Thanks for the warning, I believe we'll be skipping that 'attraction!'

I know my DDs are going to want to ride it, how do you get thru it then? I'm trying to keep an open mind about it...

Bad or not-- I can't wait to try it on our next trip. I'm looking forward to a "new" ride.

I heard how not many people liked it, but still had to see for myself. It was definitely awful. But how can you say Dinosaur is bad, I think that's one of my favorites!

Why did they change that ride? Was it too scary before? It is too lame to endure ever again. :sad2:

LOL! I heard all the warnings about it too, still we rode it. Didn't think it was that great, but I'd probably ride it again when we go back! Guess I'm just a sucker! :rotfl:

I have not ridden Stitch yet. I suspect that I will not like it.....based on the reviews and the descriptions of the "ride." However, I will ride it.....just to see for myself. Considering the overwhelmingly bed reviews, how much time do you think will pass before they re-do this ride again?

Well, hopefully the new ride that they have already started to build will be better, although I cannot judge yet because I haven't rode it. I read an article on it though on the new ride. The new ride features:

* Less smell
* Less darkness periods
* More of Stitch
* An alternate ending
* A higher height restriction

From what I hear about the ride, that may be better, I don't know. It just goes to show you what happens when budgets get cut. Imagineers are creative but they aren't always miracle workers. They have so many good ideas but over half can't be implemented. For example, Stitch's Great Escape was supposed to have a budget of $30 million and got cut to $10 million, imagine the difference if it'd be $20 million more on it.

Also, I like the show (don't really watch it much but I still like it) but I don't think it's right how they are just marketing this ride. It's a just ride, why don't they have a castle on the monorails or busses? Or something like POTC, etc. Something classic..

Oh well.

I need to ride the ride just to make a decision on it.

They removed AE because it was losing a lot of the audience, lines just became very short. It became outdated and I think Eisner wasn't satisfied with it anymore. Also, AE was scary to young children but I don't think a lot were allowed to ride because of the height restriction, I could be wrong on that. WDI was told to create a ride with Stitch and there you go.

This was our longest wait at WDW and I will never do it again. I thought I would never say this but, I liked AE much better. :(

I will definitely be trying this ride, just to understand what everyone is talking about! From what I've noticed on the boards is that people who say they compared it to AE felt Stitch was awful, those who don't like Stitch hate it, and those who have never been on AE and love Stitch find it okay. I think Disney's imagineering is going downhill. :( Remember the butchering of the Figment ride? Thank goodness they are changing it back, but it looks like they butchered AE! Too bad too because I love Stitch! I just hope the other new rides are good, at least Soarin seems to be a hit!

Sorry....offtopic.................are they changing the figment ride back? Or are you referring to the changes they made to the "new" figment ride that they made a few years ago?

My friend was a CM at Disney 2 years ago (technically she is but is not in Epcot at the moment) and apparently there were a lot of complaints about the "new" Figment ride. So it wass rumored that they were planning on changing it back. They may have already finished the change if they decided to do it but I havent been to Disney in a couple years so I won't know for sure until May. Anyone else know by chance?

They weren't changing it back - they did put more of Figment back into it tho. It's still the new JIYI, just tweaked.....

I'm bummed about Stitch. I like Stitch(the character) - but we really liked AE. It was one of my DS's favorite rides. It's a shame that they took a dark, thrilling experience & tried to make it younger kid friendly. No matter what cute fuzzy you put in a dark theater with surprising sound effects, it's always going to startle the little folks. I think they picked the wrong venue to try to squeeze Stitch into.Tommorrowland, yes, but they should have started from scratch with it & left AE. There were still alot of folks going on it the last time we were on it before it closed.
Not to mention the fact that it should be Experiment 626's Great Escape, shouldn't it?

My nephews were so freaked out that they asked to get off before it ended. Luckily there was a CM who got them out.

:cold: i did not think it was scarey or bad but his breath, my lord his breath-yuck

I thought AE was OK. I think that SGE is terrible. And I agree, the way they are pushing this ride, you'd think it was the top ride at WDW. I mean, Stitch is on all the busses and monorails. They have a Stitch out in the woods on WDW property, so you see him from the road. They even have a "crashed" van at DTD with a sign that says "nothing to see here, try Tomorrowland."

Maybe they could have spend the money for all those graphics and such on the actual ride. Why would Disney need to advertise an attraction on their own property?

I love Dinosaur ... its was my DS-7 (in fact all my kids) that were scared to death on it. I was upset because we didn't get to AK this trip, not enough time.

I am in the minority, I really like the Stitch attraction. It wasn't Disney's best, and I think there is room for improvement, but I like the little guy, and he's so mischevious, I think he really does lend himself to the rework of AE.
