I Saw Mommy Kissing Goofy Claus - Dec '09 - DAY ONE, FINALLY (2/20) - PG# 40

Thank you all for your advice. I think you are all right on the same page and I gotta get on that page too! I am going to know Madi best and will know when to trudge forward and when to step back and take a break. I think it is a good thing that we will be in MK for our first day, since if we miss some cause we went back for a nap that wouldn't happen (ie: took Madi back to CBR where she proceeded to jump around the room, no interest in napping) we've always got MVMCP to come back and check it all out. Time will tell...

I am inching closer to 60 days, today marks 62. SO I have created our countdown. No trivia or anything fun like that, but the simple joys of knowing we're getting closer. I'll be back later to post some pics of it. (I had to go out on my own "Limey Heist")

can't wait to see the pics!!!

...random question but can I get a halloween mickey boo??

Thanks!!

Your plan looks fine! Adjust as necessary as the day goes on.

Especially, with a child, it's probably more important to *not* have a super-rigid schedule because anything can happen. Madi might be completely off because her usual routine is not there or can be super-energized because there's all kinds of excitement around every corner. Mickey! Minnie! Cinderella! Ahhhhh!

I never went as a child and I'm sure I would have been bouncing all over the place. Heck, what am I talking about? I bounce all over the place now! :lmao:

Ok...playing catch up!!!
THe CM's often move your strollers while you are on a ride and you get off and look for it! They don't tell you! I think they may sit somewhere and watch people looking for their strollers and laugh at them! So, watch out for that! We never had a problem of it going missing for good though!
Um...as far as the schedule...we have been going since Pooty was 1. This will be the first year that we are working breaks into the trip. He has always just slept in the stroller if he got tired. But, we are doing break time this year. We are not necessarily doing naps, but maybe pool time. So, it is really up to you...only you know how she will be. And, like the December Florida weather...she may change how she does from the beginning of the trip to the end. I'd maybe work the breaks in time-wise, but know that you can keep going if you want.

oo ooo ooo can't wait to see the countdown!!! :yay:

it's coming...

You've been BOO'd!

A limey hiest! Those are fun. Can't wait to see the countdown.

Who does a limey heist at 8:30PM on a Saturday?! I do...

I think we'll have a few rough plans to choose from and we'll play it by ear as to how Madi hangs in there...

I can easily see Madi napping if a nap is needed in her stroller, but I have read that mid day breaks are a MUST. Sometime you gotta let advice go in one ear and out another... you're the parent, you know your child. I gotta keep telling myself that!

Saturday night I got in from a play date with Madi & her BFF's and I decided I needed to make a countdown calendar as our 60 day mark is fast approaching. I had an idea for our calendar and headed out to Home Depot for supplies. I was going it alone and I was a bit nervous. Ty went and had her daughter as her Patsy. I thought quick and dialed my Mum. I gave her a little background on what exactly a Limey Heist was and that I just needed her to follow along.

Enter Home Depot, Saturday, 8:34 PM.

Head straight to the paint department. Find the Disney Behr paint. Start the discussion.

Me: "What do you think of green?"
Mum: "It's my favorite color."
Me: "They've got 4 different greens. Alien Green, Sonic Boom, Friendly Green and 100 Acre Trees"
Mum: "How many of these paint chips do you need?"
Me: "I think Friendly Forest is a bit dark, 60 chips, and Alien Green is too bright"
Mum: "I don't think it's stealing, the paint chips are free. But what do you need 60 for."
Me: "I got a bunch of each... this is a serious stack in my pocket."

Exit Home Depot.

Return to the safety of my car at 8:41 PM, begin counting chips.

Me: "Holy Crap! Mum I got 84 chips!"
Mum: "You going to take back the ones you don't use?"
Me: "HA! I gotta get out of here before the Secret Security in charge of Disney Paint Chips tracks me down!"

So there you have it, a Limey Heist of my own, completed. I drove out of the Plaza and constantly had my eyes on the rear view, just waiting for the lights of security. I got home safely, peeled 60 heads off the backing and this is what I made:

I really like how when I peeled them off the ears curled over, makes the look of a tree more realistic!

WOOHOO - check out that ticker!!! 2 Months!!! Tomorrow is 60 days!!!

Good job on your heist!!! Your countdown is cute! I am loving seeing my paint heads dwindle off of my big head!!! Tomorrow your ticker will say 1 month and xx days!!! Seeing that "1" month was such an awesome sight!
And, yes...only you know your child, yourself and your DF! You can play it all by ear! Like I said, we have never done breaks and survived to tell all about it! I have alotted the time for them this trip, but there may be times where we don't do it. I am leaving it up to everyone to decide. But, if and when we do take advantage of break time, we will only take the break for the amount of time I have alotted!! LOL No trying to do too much break time! We have just never really taken advantage of our resort before and only swam one time in all of our trips! So, since we are staying at different and upgraded resorts this time, we thought it was a good time to start.

I love your limey heist!!! That's fantastic!! You've just made your mom an accessory!! :rotfl:

I know exactly the parking lot too, which just makes the visualization all that much better!!

love you countdown calendar!!! you and your mom are just too funny!!! I started collecting them when we came back in May I think I'm up to about 40...so you really did an awesome job... usually do about two of each color and I have about 8 colors!!!! always waiting for someone to walk up and say are you going to Disney!!! PUT THEM BACK!! :lmao:

I will probably have a small anxiety attack seeing my ticker say 1 month, xx days... I will feel like there is so much to be done and so little time to get it done. I like knowing that there will be time to sneak away if we feel the need. Again. time will tell! And I definitely want to get Madi in the "fun" pool at CBR, maybe our first day, weather pending!

My mum told me that I have been playing too much Mafia Wars on Facebook as I told her she was going to be my accessory! :rotfl2:

I love that you know where I am referring! Remember when Home Depot was a Bradlees? Were you around when word came that Home Depot was coming in and Shepley's got concerned... no need, they're doing just fine!

Connie, you gotta get daring! Next time, take 4 of each! You can do it Connie, you got the DIS on your side!

I got in there quick while the paint man was helping another costumer... I too was waiting for the tap on the shoulder :rotfl2:

I LOVE IT!!! And you're right, the curled ears really make it look like a real Mickey Christmas tree! I like that you incorporated the Holiday season into the countdown, doesn't it just make it that much more fun!!!

yay!!! I love that tree!!!! I felt the same way at Home Depot. I was like oh this is like stealing mickey! but across from the paint were storage bins and they had lime green ones on sale for like 2 bucks each so I got them for my classroom for put books in so I didn't feel as bad then lol

ps thanks for the pumpkin mickey!

WOOOHOOOO for 60 days :dance3: :cheer2:

I do remember the Bradlee's very well!! My step-dad works in construction, and he was trying to figure out a way to LIVE in the Home Depot when it first opened!!! :rotfl:

Real quick before I head to bed I wanted to share something.

As we will be in Disney two weeks before Christmas I have come up with a great idea for gifting this year. For the adults on our list (parents, sibilings, etc.) we will be picking a non-profit organization and making a $25 donation in their name. For the kiddos we are doing this: World Wildlife Fund - Adopt a Species.

We are thinking green and thinking globally! Why not gift world peace for Christmas. Who really needs another tchotchke or DVD... gift life, gift cures, gift love this year!

(PS - I just recently found out that tchotchke (pronounced chats-ki, or a knick knack if you prefer) is spelled like that and I fell in love )
