WOW...it was sooo cool.

Every year, my family (my mom, sibs and their kids) get together at our local amusement park, Kennywood, for a picnic and day of fun.

Today, while we were eating in one of the picnic pavillions, I looked over at a group of people walking towards me and noticed that some of the people were carrying tv camera equipment and then noticed that one of the people was Ed Begley Jr!!!! He looked EXACTLY like he does on film...by the time I was able to get the attention of my family members (without making a total idiot of myself)...he was pretty much passing...very cool.

Background: We don't see very many celebrities in the pittsburgh area, not to mention the fact that my family is full of total cheeseballs who find anything out of the ordinary exciting...this was VERY big for us...

Then...about 5 minuted later, while we were talking about what different things we have seen him in...(What comes to my mind is his environmental activism)...

.... my DD (17) grabs my arm and says "Mom, OH MY GOSH......look, look,...LOOK!!!"...I glance over and see Jeff Goldblum and a few others on a park staff golf cart riding towards me!!! Holy COW!!! My DD says and points again...(can you tell we are not known for 'subdued').... "Oh my gosh!" and covers her mouth in awe...he looked at her and smiled and then pointed right back at her and covered his mouth like he was just as amazed to see her as she was to see him! It was so funny...At this point we all let out a collective "OMG" (my mother, of course, being the loudest) and he just waved and smiled as he went by...

We were told by a security guard (my mother would NOT let it go until she had the low-down), that they were filming something (biographical) about JG because he grew up in pittsburgh (which I did not know). Makes sense... anyone who grew up in Pittsburgh has many a childhood memory from visting Kennywood. Also found out later that they are both performing in a play (or something) in town.

This was really cool...my DD spent the rest of the day checking her makeup and talking about her 'moment' with Jeff Goldblum...She kept saying..."Mom, I didn't just see him...he saw ME too!!!"...she is star struck and watching Jurassic Park II as I type...

very cool day...
:teeth:

<font color=navy>Okay, now how cool is that?

Sounds like a fun day, and I'm sure you all will be talking about it for awhile, especially your dd. I know I would.

That's too funny -- JG pointing and looking like he's in awe. :)

It really was sweet...he sort of has a recognizable smile, you know what I mean? It was just like I have seen him do on film...

Wendy, you didn't know JG was from Pittsburgh? Yep, the West Mifflin, Munhall area . He went to my Alma Mater for high school. I can still remember sitting in history class, and every once in a while, my history teacher would point to my friend who sat in the seat next to me usually after he got done goofing off, and the history teacher would say, "Jeff Goldblum sat in that very seat, so believe it or not, you can make something of yourself too" LOL Cool Story Wendy!

That is so cool!

You know, your daughter is never going to forget this experience.

How fun! Glad you guys had such a great day. :)

You know RPOF, when I heard it, it did seem remotely familar that he was from the area but I guess it just never really stuck with me.

Too cool that he went to your HS...yeah, it was awesome...and the weather and crowds weren't so bad either...although it was HUGELY humid and hot...the possible thunderstorms predicted stayed away....

No doubt none of us will forget it...even my youngest niece (4 yo) recognized him...'he's the Jurassic Park guy!!"...Now, Ed Begley Jr...my kids thought he looked familiar, but couldn't place him...
