DS and I went to DL for a few hours this morning and when we were on the Jungle Cruise Ride the skipper had to stop the boat about halfway through because the boat in front of us broke down. A CM announced over a loudspeaker that all the boats before the hippo pool had to go back the other way. So off we went riding backwards on the Jungle Cruise. There's nothing too exciting to tell about riding it backwards except that none of the animals were moving as we backed out. It was almost as if the animals weren't real!

How COOL! At least it is something different! One would think that the animals would be working unless the switches don't trip in reverse. I'm glad you and ds had another chance to go before the hospital! Hopefully, everything else was working well for you.

Sonnyjane - that was a brilliant line!

So Lavender Peach, you mean to tell me THIS is the fun I missed at DLR on my birthday? I could have gone backwards on Jungle Cruise! Arrrggggghhhhh.... Well, at least with Jungle Cruise they don't have to 'turn the lights on' and reveal the whole inside of the ride when the ride breaks down in some way. It can still pretty much retain its jungly feel even heading the other way. Someone on here said that when Peter Pan broke down, the lights came on and it didn't look so magical after all!:rotfl:

What do you mean, the animals aren't real? You mean those aren't really killer piranha jumping up at the boat?;)

This might sound weird, but I would like to ride space mountain with the lights on. Very weird, just would like to see everything inside.. ahah

Yes, it was fun to see the ride in a different way. Thankfully they reversed us after we saw the tiger because that's what DS really wanted to see. DS is doing great and we're gearing up for our 3 week "vacation" at CHOC in September. And we'll get to go to DLR at least one more time before he goes to the hospital because my parents are coming down and we're going for my dad's b-day.

Are the jokes just as cheesy in reverse? :lmao:

:rotfl2: You know, I was actually disappointed that once the ride stopped the cheesy jokes stopped too! I thought maybe he would at least show us the "front side of water" as we went by but no such luck.

Yes! This is what you missed! You could have seen the jungle backwards too! Of course, on the positive side, you also missed out on the heat and humidity. Hopefully you were able to stay cool today. Happy Birthday! :goodvibes

That happened to us last October, but we were the boat that broke down--got off track. It was kind of scary because the boat was not stable at all, especially when the (seemingly 12 year old) skipper gunned it going backward around a corner! yikes!!

The skipper though, was hilarious! I think he was kind of new to the job and was quite stressed out. He grabbed the cb to call back to the base and pulled the whole cord right out of the wall! It took a while to get that fixed up and then they couldn't hear what he was saying. Eventually, some mechanics came and fixed us and we made it back, but we were stuck out there a good 20 minutes. I thought we were going to have to swim! ha ha!

Oh--the skipper DID tell the jokes backwards!!!

Thank you! It was actually hot, humid and miserable where I am too, today! (What is with this humidity that we are having in SoCal all of a sudden?) So I was thinking it was better off that I didn't go to DLR and deal with that special brand of DLR heat! I probably would have passed out!

I was wondering if the people on the broken boat had any type of exciting adventure. Now I know! That CM sounds hilarious, pulling the whole cb out!

I don't know what's up with this humidity all of a sudden but I don't like it! It's very WDW-like, isn't it? A couple of days ago it even rained at my house for about 15 minutes in the morning.

Totally cool !!!1

On my last trip to DL, we were about half way through Indy when it broke down. All of the lights came on and cast members came to the car with step ladders to get us out of the vehicles. We had to walk the rest of the way out of the attraction. It was pretty cool to see everything with the lights on. My kids had a cool story for show and tell when they went back to school.

See, I'm not the only one that has been feeling the humidity. We were at the DL resort 7/16-7/18 and stayed at HOJO on the ent. rate  and I was swetting bulletts and I said why do I feel like I'm at WDW with this humidity.:headache: My DS said I was nuts but I know better. It figures!

There is a video of Spoace Mountain with the lights on - checkout You Tube!!!

Just before we leave for our Disney trips I look at the videos on You Tube...listen to the fireworks, watch people's videos of the rides.....gets me in the MOOD!

I think that would be a good ride to break down on. My sister was on it when it broke down but they were right near the beginning so she didn't get to see much.

A: A six-pack

Q: What do three toucans make?

I saw this earlier but didn't have time to post. Then I noticed it was my sister who rode backwards! I was going to ask you if you saw the "front side of water"! Guess we think alike. Glad he got to see the tiger.

I keep meaning to post my pics of the broken SM and IJ. I'll try to do that tonight if I can. However, tonight is Bengal BBQ night! :thumbsup2 So I've got to go chop veggies and beef to make skewers so I might not have time to post them until tomorrow. :)
