Stitch's was open for test rides at last night's MNSVSP! It is exactly like Alien except instead of the scary alien-it was Stitch. My DD-13 was pretty stoked to be able to ride it though

I was there at the party, too, and I saw it was open! I wanted to ride, but the line looked pretty big when I passed by, so I never did get to it. Lucky you guys!!

Did it not seem Stitch-like since it was just like AE? Were you disappointed? Do you think a small child would still be frightened on it?

I think a small child (and many older ones) would be terrified. There were many screaming children when we rode earlier this week. DS(9) who has ridden almost everything and loves Space Mountain HATED this ride. I don't think the warnings on this are not nearly strong enough. It is very much like I remember the Alien ride. You still have the restraints over the shoulders (and they really need to pad these - I still have a bruise from when I jumped) and it is dark for several minutes. We were telling people all week not to take their kids on it. I don't know what they were thinking putting a character like Stitch, who is so obviously geared towards small children, on a ride like this.

We just rode this yesterday and were really disappointed. The preshow was very good and we were looking forward to the ride but what a let down. Hardly any effects though the darkness did freak out quite afew small children.

I definitely wouldn't wait in line to do it again. This was the only disappointment of our week at the parks but it was abig one!

I am soooooo bummed out. I just can't imagine with as popular a character as Stitch is that they couldn't come up with something better than an AE "do-over". Disney, you really missed the mark with this one :( :( :(

Anyone know what the height requirement is? I have a DS (age 5) who has been anxious to get on this one and I am sure he will want to go on it, even if I don't, LOL.

I was hoping it would be completely different than AE. I hated that ride/attraction and refused to ride it again after one time. I am a big baby ;) I can image children scared, as *I* was scared!!!

Thanks for your report =)

I got a sneak preview on my recent trip and was somewhat disappointed too. I thought it was "cute" but, kids will still be scared in it (although, not as scared as AE) and it seems to be missing "something". I think this will be popular for the next year and then a total walk on.
I was surprised to see just how popular Stitch, as a character, really is. When he showed up in the tube, people really applauded and were really happy. I know Stitch is popular but, the strong reaction was really surprising. That popularity may also make the attraction seem a bigger disappointment to people. i.e. the character deserves a lot better.
Shall we take a poll and guess what will replace this attraction in 5 years?

Sounds scary. I am a big baby when it comes to scary rides. I NEVER went on AE...no desire to scare the heck out of myself. SOunds like Stitches ride may be a pass for me as well. Was hoping it would be a cute ride w/ cool effects like Philharmagic....not scary.

I think Disney missed the mark on this one.

How about "The Michael Eisner Last Board Meeting" ride?

Michael faces the BOD for the last time after ANOTHER internal 70%+ no confidence vote, but before they are able to "can" him, he escapes into the park. Attempts to contain him fail.

This theme would work because they can still use the "chili burp" effect.

Hey, so I'm an amatuer, I think this has a shot...

:p

I guess I will a lone dissenting voice here and say I really enjoyed AE.
It was a nice change of pace when the sweetness of disney got to be much. I'm not saying sweetness is a bad thing but just like when I have chocolate I need something a bit salty or sour to counter it :)

I'm going next year when it is going to be open. I really want to go on it. I can't wait any longer.:hyper:

For an adult, this shouldn't be scary for you. I experienced this attraction a week ago, and there's darkness, and effects similar to those found in AE, but done in a lgiht-hearted fashion.

For a kid, it could be scary, especially the darkness (but then again, it didn't seem pitck black, and I wanted it a bit darker), but adults should be ok.

 You do NOT move inside this thing, just sit there in the dark!

poohbear, don't you know that there are NO rides at Disney??? They are all "ATTRACTIONS." ;)

I also rode Stitch last night and thought it was great. I loved Alien Encounter but it was just to scary for little kids. There were quite a few small children when I rode and I didn't hear any of them crying or acting scared. I think they've all seen Stitch before and so they knew that he's not scary.

I never rode AE, but we rode Stitch a couple of days ago.

Snore. I really was exited to ride it and felt we were lucky to get the chance since the official opening was nearly three weeks away, but we were disappointed. As stated the pre-ride was the best part. Sitting in those uncomfortable chairs while Stitch rammed around in the dark and bounced you a couple of times was simply uninteresting.

Sad to say, once was enough,
