I called the CM and was told I had a pin for 40% off but there is a blackout from October 9th-22nd. I was gonna leave on the 9th but would leave the 8th if my pin would run through the entire stay. I was told it was for the dates only and not when you check in. Is this the norm? I always thought that your pin is good throughout your entire stay as long as you check in the dates that the pin is active. Any info would be great.
P.S. I would change the dates but its my Honeymoon and Im getting married on the 7th.

As I understand it, if you are using a package PIN, then so long as you are checked in by the expiration date the package price is good for the whole stay. Room only codes are tied to daily room reservations which float the price daily [hence weekends are more expensive than week days] It also means that there is not coverage for the full trip based on checkin date. Congratulations on your marriage!

I got a PIN and was told I had to be out by the end of the promo,,,CM was right.

I was told that we had to be out when the code ended too or we would just start getting charged rack rates when it ends. Everyone gets so many answers. Which one is true. I know it used to be if you checked in during a value season you could use your code the whole stay even if it turned to prime time during you stay. Does anyone know the RIGHT answer??

Unfortunately the CM was correct. This has been true for the last several years. It's the same way for the AP discounts now too. In the past the rate you used to check in with went for your entire stay even if the season changed. Not anymore. My trip last May I got an AP discount for all but one day. That one day I had to pay rack rate. Also in the past the discount codes would start on like a Saturday and end on a Sunday. Now it seems like alot of them start on a Sunday and may end on like a Thursday or Saturday, which throws off alot of people if they happen to book at the beginning or the end of an offer and travel Saturday through Sunday. Any day that falls outside your discount code range you have to pay rack rate for. We used to love to book trips for the middle of Dec or the very end of Sept so that we could take advantage of the value season rates for the whole trip. For the last couple of years that we've done this, we've had to pay the value rates for part of the trip and then regular or holiday rates for the end of the trips and then if the AP discounts happen to miss a few of those days we get to pay rack rate. Same thing with the 35% off bounceback rates we've used. It seems like a few of the days seem to fall outside the dates, so we have to book a separate reservation and get to pay rack rate. It's happened to us three times in the last two years.:headache:

Now free dining is a whole different ball game and for some reason people tend to get the rules for free dining and the rules for room discounts confused. As long as you check in by the last day of free dining you will get free dining for your entire stay.
