My plan was to hit AK as my first park this year, because I've never been on Everest.

But as the time draws nearer, I find myself imagining myself racing from POR right to the MK after checking in.

There's just no substitute for the MK - not even new thrilling attractions. :cloud9:

I agree!! A couple of times, we planned not to go to MK the first day.....WHAT WERE WE THINKING! We always go to MK the first day, no matter what day of the week it is, whether or not it's on EMH day, etc. We figure if we just walk down Main Street, hit one or two less popular attractions, have dinner and watch Spectro and/or Wishes, we have arrived!

We usually save MK for last. To each his own I guess! We love AK, though we don't do it every trip.

There's no substitute for much-loved traditions! If you don't feel you're at Disney till you do MK, then don't mess with your good vibes!

My DD's idea of how to start a Disney vacation is to get her swimsuit on and hit the hotel pool! :confused3 Last time we got in too late for an afternoon swim, and the next morning she just didn't feel right going directly to a theme park. The heart wants what the heart wants....

We always do AK the last day. I don't know why, not for any specific reason except now it's tradition I guess. We always do MK first, also a tradition... nothing like seeing the castle to start your vacation!

We always do Magic Kingdom 1st day - have to walk up Main Street and see the castle to know we've arrived (I always cry)

We also always do Magic Kingdom the last day. Need to see the magic one more time before we go so we can hold on to it til next trip!!(Of course, I also cry when we're leaving)

If we have a morning flight we go to MK the night before and stay until closing to see the fireworks one more time and to turn around as we're exiting to wave good bye to Mickey who stands on the lawn in front of the train station (and of course to cry!)

i was thinking....for the 5 days of the week we are going:
AK saturday
EPCOT the front end sunday
EPCOT the world stuff monday
MK tuesday
MK/MGM wednesday

I know where you are coming from. Our upcoming schedule looks like this...

Sun - MK day
Mon - Epcot day
Tues - AK (am) and MVMCP (MK pm - of course)
Wed - MK day
Thur - Epcot day
Fri - MK day

So 4 out of 6 days we will be at the Magic Kingdom :wizard:

So glad to see others feel the same way. I so want to ride Everest - I'm just dying to check it out - but my heart tells me that Cinderella Castle is calling me - and how does one ignore that type of calling? :confused3 :teeth:

MK first...and MK last.

We want that magical feeling right when we arrive...and then stay until MK closes on our last night...to take that feeling back home...

Always. :goodvibes

Although that last goodbye is sooooo hard. :sad2:

Sounds familiar.....we'll be in THE WORLD on 7/15....

Our plan also was to check in and head to AK to do EE, but I've changed it to MK....gotta feel the magic right away. I've even booked us at LTT that evening so now there's no turning back.

We always do MK first and last...and a few times in between.

The only time we've ever done another park was when we went to WDW for DD2's 8th birthday. We flew in on her actual birthday. Her favorite ride was/is Tower of Terror and she wanted that to be her first ride on her birthday.

I'm counting the days!!!

Every trip we make AK is the very first on our list. Our family's very first encounter with the Mouse was in 1999 with the traveling show that promoted the opening of AK. Our kids were 3, 18 months, and 4 mo's and that first picture with Mickey hung beside their bathtub until our very first trip 3 years later.

So now our most desired keepsake is a family picture with Mickey at Camp Mickey and Minnie at AK followed by the Lion King show. Although we will sneek a peak at the castle the night before as we watch wishes from the Poly beach!

I can sympathize... I would really like to do AK first, but no way. We'll hit AK on 2nd day, with a trip that evening to MK for MNSSHP

I'm saving AK for the evening it's open late for EMH. I would like to see it as it is getting dark! We're staying at the Beach Club, so I'm sure Epcot will be our first park. It may be a couple of days before we get to MK, but we don't have any traditions to uphold.

I always want to do the MK first (and then several other times during the trip!). This trip looks like this so far:

Sun arrival @ 10a.m. - MK
Mon - AK
Tues - Epcot (mostly future world)
Wed. - MGM
Thurs - MK
Fri - pool, resort, relaxation day...maybe Fantasmic in the evening
Sat - Epcot
Sun - MK from 8-11 a.m.

I usually base the plans on EMH mornings and try to avoid AMH evenings.

That almost happened to us until I put my foot down and said let's do EE now! I spent the year up until that point planning ride it and that was the reason I went down there. :Pinkbounc

AK was the first park we went to on our first trip in 2001 and it's always the first place we go to now!! The Safari was always our traditional first ride, but when I went in March I went straight to EE and it was well worth it!!!! :cool1: Got to ride twice in about 15 minutes!!! Could have gotten a fastpass for one or two more rides, but since DH doesn't like roller coasters and I had to go by myself I thought twice in a row was enough!!!
